A prophet. Its hard to believe all the rest of the prophets prior to Christ like Noah, Abraham, Moses even Zacharias and John didn't know God had a son, who eventually had to be sacrificed cos apparently, the sins of their ancient parents Adam and Eve were not forgiven by God.
Also, its really inconceivable that Christ, if he is God's son, who did miracles like reviving the dead to life, can't even save his own but had to be crucified.
In any case, insisting that Christ is a son of God is humiliating and degarading God to begin with.

Jesus as a prophet makes infinitely more sense. That's why the ONLY reason to believe he's the son of God is if it's true.

Well he said he was both. He could not just be a prophet because a prophet would not falsely claim God's identity, so if he said it, and he is a prophet, it must be true. The only basis we have for making any determinations about jesus are from new tesament scriptures which are the only explicit accounts of his life composed in the same area and in the first few centuries after him.

Jesus could not have been a prophet - why? Because He claimed to be the Son of God. If he isn't the son of God, then He would be a liar.
