I have heard that there are documents or books written around the time of Christ or soon afterwards that mention Christ and are pointed to as evidence that he really did exist. What are these documents?

Josephus reported that shortly after Festus’ death, Ananus (Ananias) of the sect of the Sadducees became high priest. He brought James, Jesus’ half brother, and other disciples before the Sanhedrin and had them condemned to death and stoned.

I don't know where to point you to ... put Jesus is a well known historical character, even if you aren't Christian and rely on the bible for all your facts. Therefore, I would assume that he is mentioned in other written works ... but not necessarily as the "christ".

If you read the book Josephus there are references to Christ in there.

I believe that the romans recorded when the jews were trying to crucify him. He definantly existed, even history text books teach of his existance. I hoped this helped and God bless!
