"For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man. Let the women keep silence in the churches, for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, so saith the law. And if they learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home; for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
I Corinthians 11:3, 7, 9)
What a shame that women follow a religion that scorns them and hates them.

Just because a religion is followed by many people, doesn't mean it's not to be questioned. I have rejected Christianity and this is only one of the MANY reasons. Saying women are made from a rib of a man is just rude...and a myth that has carried with it many discriminations that women have dealt with over the years.

Isn't it interesting that all of the Christians (lets all BOW to their SUPERIORITY) are commenting about how "out of context" this is?
Brainwashed. All of them.

faith changes with the situations, a lot as many theists could desire to think of in any different case. There are passages interior the Tenach which justify-- even inspire-- slavery, yet Christianity now no longer helps slavery. apparently adequate, most of the "undesirable" regulations are interior the Tenach, which some Christians use to justify each form of hatred even nevertheless they do no longer save kosher, yet maximum Jews i understand are tolerant of homosexuality and are professional-decision. humorous how that works out. i'm no longer asserting that each and absolutely everyone Christians try this; there are a number of cool Christians that understand that the Bible improve into written a protracted time in the past, and that faith, as a count of the midsection, shouldn't rigidity one to have faith some thing that one does no longer.

Christianity does not hate or scorn women. In the early church women were some of the most influential leaders. Women were also some Jesus' closet companions.
Please, do not try to pick out a small part of the Bible, and claim to know the entire message conveyed in God's Word. A little "knowledge" is dangerous, but understanding (knowledge and wisdom) begin with fearing the Lord.
Take the time to pray that God will reveal His will to you, and then read the Bible. God will reveal Himself to you, if you have a sincere heart.
I will say a prayer for you. God loves all His children, both male and female.
God bless!

Well you have your verses mixed up 1Corinthians 11:9 says: Man wasn't created for woman but woman for man.
The verse about women being quiet in church is 1Corinthians 14:34 "Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law."
Notice how it says "saith the law," but we as Christians or no longer under that law.
Romans 7:4 says: Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God.

True: The scripture you interpret such is in relationship to a particular period within the early church at Corinth. The time setting when this was spoken or written by Paul, was to address the confusion created when everyone was speaking or talking at once. Paul said, simply, if you have any questions, direct them to your husbands "at home" ! This would prevent chaos occurring within the church building while the sermonizing was going on - that's all. Jesus had close friends and they were women. Women even, wept, while Christ along the way, was attempting to carry His cross to the execution site. The bible is full of instruction for husbands to "love their wives, as Christ loves the church".

When studing the Bible we must look for three things, what the scripture meant to the audience of that time, what it means to me today and how can I apply this scripture to my life. First we must ubderstand Judaism before we can interpret this scripture. You see in Judaism women were not allowed in the temple where the priests taught they had to learn from their fathers and husbands. As people were converting from Judaism to Christianity there was a problem with keeping order in the local church at corinth. This message was only directed to that local church at that time because the women were asking questions and disturbing the order in the church. Today we look at this scripture as an example for us to maintain order during preaching.
You see it is the Holy Spirit's job to interpret the scriptures for us not for us to interprete them on our own to what WE want them to be. This is why we have so many denominations and interpretations of the Bible. I hope this helps you. God Bless!

those weren't the words of god or Jesus they were the words of a man named Paul, he lived during that time and made rules "appropriate" for that time, most of what you'll read in the bible that was written by Paul were originally actually letters to particular churches they werent intended to be included in the bible. follow your heart it will lead you, my guess is your heart tells you god is real but your mind is having troub;le swallowing it because of peoples words (Paul for example and maybe alot of really arrogant and stupid christian hypocrites) put the bible down , find god in your heart , allow him into your life create a personal relationship with him , use the tools he gave you to recognise what he wants from you and what is right and wrong and youll be better off then if you were to attend church every sunday and read the bible. it used to be that very few people would even have access to a bible and even if they did they likely wouldnt be able to read it, i think things were better then, there are just to many things that are either beyond us to understand or somehow wrong or twisted in the bible, if its leading you away from god throw it away please. i think you want god in your life somewhere deep down, just stop being negative and develop your own relationship independent of anyone else.

Most Christian women understand that the Bible is a cultural book written to Jewish people. The problem is we try to interpret it in our own Western culture. In my Christian denomination women are ordained. I don't feel that my religion scorns and hates me.

Is that why Jesus had women as disciples? And the first people to see Jesus resurrected were women?
That verse is understood as being an explicit command for THAT church he was writing and not universal.

That whole things about a rib. Men are missing a part of their DNA. on the xy chromosome. women are xx. men are xy. I guess that if you saw a part of the DNA chain close up, you'd notice it's curved.
Now that's a fanciful argument. I wish people wouldn't get so worked up about these things.

Tsk. Jesus didn't say that.
I will choose Jesus teachings. He is the authority. Not Paul, nor any other biblical figure. Just my Jesus.
It's a shame that you don't have a real understanding of the scriptures. I hope that you come to know the truth of Jesus love for you. You really need him in your life.
Be well.
