Okay, so my friend and i are trying to organize a trip for our middle school to go somewhere out of town for like a couple of days. We decided to try this because other middle schools take trips to washington d.c. for educational purposes and we hope our school can do the same thing too. It is going to seem hard to get this trip into a major matter, so I would like to have your opinions on how to persuade the people at our school to organize a trip for us eighth graders to go somewhere. What i mean by people are the principals, school teachers, and the school faculty. I would appreciate all your answers to this question GREATLY. =] For your information, the places we want to go to is: Washington D.C. (S. Studies) and Disneyland for our graduation.

You'd have to do it like a business proposition. Where will you get funding? Be prepared to organize fundraisers and sales of all kinds. The cost is usually a big reason that schools cancel trips. Try to make sure it is educational. I'm not sure that the school will be willing to sign off on it unless it is. Do you have the backing of parents? That would be a good place to start. You'll be taken more seriously if a couple parents are behind your plans.

Think about where you want to go, why, what you'd do, for how long, what it will cost, how you'll get there. It's a lot of planning.

One of the major issues you will have to address is insurance. Start by asking the school board what you will need to do for your trip, they will be able to tell you all the details. Be sure to have the reason for your trip, and what you will learn on it available before talking to the school board. Some teachers have made planning and research about a class trip part of their homework. So you want to talk to a teacher you will have for the entire year, say, your history or government teacher be your adviser. Good luck.
