If you look at the combination of all of the miracles of the Quran, and of how nature is displaying it even today, and even within our own selves, you would be absolutely amazed. If you apply logic to it, you know that something higher than what's visible must be at work. I'm a person who won't believe just anything, and I LOVE science. The scientific aspect of Islam is what convinced me to convert 5 years ago. Seeing it just one at a time as on here won't do anything, but if you do your own research, you will be amazed. What do you think of this?
And We have decreed set phases for the moon, until it ends up looking like an old date branch. It is not for the sun to overtake the moon nor for the night to outstrip the day; each one is swimming in a sphere. (Qur'an, 36:39-40)

LOL, and all you people know more than Scientists and Astronomers I'm sure. Go to miraclesofthequran.com and see what real Astronomers have to say about the Science and Astronomy of the QUran, instead of coming here and saying ''you're only seeing what you want to see'', and you're not seeing what you DO NOT want to see. See it works both ways.

As salaamu 'alaikym warahmatullahi wabaraktuh, my dear sister and my friend.
Insha'Allah, I have a degree in astrophysics (among many other degrees as I have spent more time in college and university then I think might have actually been good for me-smile).
The moon has an eliptical orbit around the planet and, as with all such orbits, it appears to "wobble", however, it is not described as an "S" shaped orbit by any scientist whose work I am familiar with, insha'Allah.
Insha'Allah, some persons, being understandably over zealous, attempt to put more into a "teaching" then actually exist. I am certain that they mean well and are trying to bring others to the faith which they personally hold so dear (often dearer than their own life) however, doing so in a manner that distorts scientific evidence will often not have the desired effect. In fact, it may actaully cause those familiar with the reliable and verifiable scientific evidence to doubt their religious claims.
Insha'Allah, although the Holy Qur'an holds many scientific truths, one must always remember that it was not revealed so as to be a scientific work. It is primarily religious/spiritual and philosophical in nature.
Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala, has gifted humanity with a great deal of knowledge, gifted as all knowledge belongs to Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala and man can only understand that which he is allowed to by the Will of Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala. Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala, has allowed man to compile many books filled with the knowledge we have been allowed by Him to acquire. These books are separate from the Holy Qur'an and rightfully so as otherwise, some might have accidentally altered and/or corrupted this holy and truly revelaed scripture as others have done with that which they received.
Insha'Allah, perhaps it is wiser for all concerned to allow the Holy Qur'an to stand on its own merits as the very revealed Words of Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala, without trying to make any additions or well intentioned by not completely accurate explanations. In all truth, the Holy Qur'an is so complete, it does not require any of the same. Alhumdulillah!
Ma'a salaam.

Quran is word of God in His own grand and exalted sentences. It is not a book of science but a guidance for humanity. If it speak somewhere about science then no body can prove that wrong.

the orbit of the moon was fairly accurately described by ptolemy in his 'almagest' circa AD 150, 500 or so years before the quran was compiled. it's not so amazing then that whoever wrote the quran was aware of the shape of the orbit, although they did a pretty poor job of describing it compared to the precision of ptolemy's observations and mathematical analysis.
"Dr. Harun Yahya" by the way, doesn't exist. it is the pseudonym of the turkish islamic creationist, adnan oktar and his legion of ghost writers.

"History makes it clear however, that the legend of fanatical Muslims sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of the sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myths that historians have ever repeated." --De Lacy O'Leary, ISLAM AT THE CROSSROADS, London, 1923, p. 8.
“The Christian World came to wage crusades against Muslims but eventually knelt before them to gain knowledge. They were spellbound to see that Muslims were owners of a culture that was far superior to their own. The Dark Ages of Europe were illuminated by nothing but the beacon of Muslim Civilization.” (F.J.C Hearushaw, The Science of History.)
“The Renaissance of Europe did not take place in the 15th century. Rather it began when Europe learned from the culture of the Arabs. The cradle of European awakening is not Italy. It is the Muslim Spain.” (Robert Briffault, The Making Of Mankind)
“The lies which we [Christians] have heaped round this man (Mohammed), are disgraceful to ourselves only.” (Thomas Carlyle, Heroes and Hero Worship)
“Muhammed was the most successful of all religious personalities.” (Encyclopedia Britannica, 4th & 11th editions)
“The greatest crimes, the greatest “sin” of Mohammed in the eyes of Christian West is that he did not allow himself to be slaughtered, to be “crucified” by his enemies. He only defended himself, his family and his followers; and finally vanquished his enemies. Mohammed’s success is the Christians’ gall of disappointment… He did not believe in any vicarious sacrifices for the sins of others.” (Edward Gibbon, Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.)
