It should if the people who pay the taxes want the money to be spent that way. Research in space has yielded many benefits, most noticeable are cell phones.

buildings and vehicles are typically funded at the corporate level, not by the government.
If you want to know where the US government needs to spend money I would say building a good wall at the border would rank high on the list (after all you did post this in immigration)

I don't know about all countries but my country should stop immigration and give the money saved on that to the seniors. They've put up with a lot of crap over the years and should be rewarded for that.
