"Blue raspberry is a common flavor for syrups, candies, and other food items, albeit not being a real fruit.
The blue raspberry flavor, originally derived from blue whitebark raspberry fruit juice, became an artificial designer product in the late 1950s. The flavor is described as somewhere between tangy and sour. It is often accompanied with blue food coloring; the coloring of blue raspberry also helps it to be differentiated from strawberry flavored drinks.
Artificial blue raspberry flavoring has been added to many products, such as: Go-Gurt, ICEE, Dum Dum Pop, Jolly Ranchers, Blue Brainwash, Wild Berry Skittles and Hubba Bubba. The flavor goes by other names, such as Gatorade's "Cool Blue".
Reports have found that the Blue Raspberry has been found in remote parts of Montana, and it is believed to be a cousin of the huckleberry with high concentrations of flavanoids. "
Hope this helps =)

During the process by which the raspberries are taken from the bush to the factory they are freeze-dried, and when you freeze-dry and condense an item they tend to lose the coloring. Thus in time changing the raspberries from red to a light blue until finally the blue color. They are still good because they are preserved, but have just lost their colors.

I would say it shows just how artificial the raspberry is, when it is blue. I have raspberry Kool Aid which is red, and I have raspberry gelatin, which is red. I have never really understood it either, but I would agree with others here, so differentiate with strawberry.

I think the only reason is to differentiate it from cherry and strawberry. Blueberry is not a very popular flavor, and is usually a darker blue, so they make Raspberry stuff blue to make it stand out.

Probably because a bunch of other flavors are red such as fruit punch, cherry, strawberry, etc. Nothing else is blue except for blueberries, but no one makes blueberry flavored drinks/candy. I don't know why they picked blue though, probably because they had too much blue coloring left over, or it looked more appetizing than yellow or green.

Not all raspberries are red. There are gold (yellow) and black varieties as well. Each have a slightly different flavor.
