Why should homosexual marraige be outlawed if they haven't hurt anyone? Their marraige doesn't go against any of the Ten Commandments last time I checked "Thou shall not marry someone of the same sex" wasn't one of the 10 commandments unless you christians have changed it. Is marrying someone of the same sex murder? is it stealing? is it doing any physical harm to anyone? if not why, besides being christianly immoral, should it be outlawed?

I am not Christian, but I will answer. I am not affected in the least by homosexuality. I have been approached a few times in my life and my disinterest was quickly accepted.

I have concluded that most homosexuality, seen in biological terms, is a failure of the organism (that is, life that survives and reproduces) to completely form.

In a few lives it might be by choice, as well.

I liken it to being near-sighted. I do not think that it is wrong or right; just the way it is.

It doesn't affect my personal life. I also do not care if they are LEGALLY married - as in they go to the courthouse and sign a document that they are married, and the next year they file taxes jointly and crap like that. However, if I were a pastor I sure as hell wouldn't marry a gay couple. The act of a MARRIAGE ceremony has pretty much originated in the bible. Every marriage in the history of mankind (with the exception of more recently) has been through "divine" ceremonies - providing an unwritten contract between a man and woman in they eyes of God (or, 'A' god). I would not respect a pastor for marrying homos. If pastors, priests, bishops, reverends, etc., were to marry homos, they would have almost zero attendance at Sunday service (unless the church was located in California).
The ten commandments also doesn't say "thou shalt not molest children," either, but I sure as hell would not respect a Catholic priest for doing so. Besides, I'm not too sure if the bible forbids marriage from the same sex, but I'm pretty sure it says that sodomy is a no-no. Now, I'm no gay man, but I do assume that is what gay people do - put things in places where they don't belong - inside the out-holes.

I find it rather disturbing that some of the responders here are saying "what do you care what the Christians think?". They care what Christians think because (some) Christians are very busy trying to have their morality codified into laws that affect everybody, including the people who don't believe in their god.

ADDENDUM: Matt D: That's nice, but not everybody believes that your angry, jealous sky-father is going to come down and smite us, so that hardly qualifies as a valid reason for passing laws that govern *everybody*, including non-believers. Massachusetts is still there. Society hasn't crumbled. Maybe you should be more worried about the 50% heterosexual divorce rate. It's a real shame that you like having your 'opportunities', but would happily deny them to others solely on the basis of who they're attracted to.

While I understand certain religions' opposition to it, I don't understand the government's. To be honest, I really don't care who people marry as long as both (or more) are of the age of consent and have consented. It is not my business to police the actions of others in this matter.

it is stated as human biology. this could not be a marvel to you. adult men and girls have diverse, yet completely well suited sexual organs which enable them to reproduce. adult men and adult men, or women and girls, do no longer. they have 2 of the comparable; they are incompatible and as a result at the instant cannot reproduce. The practices wherein they indulge, to faux that they greater healthy, recommend that they are introducing sexual areas of the physique to different areas which at the instant are not meant for that purpose - the anus, as an occasion, from the place excrement leaves the physique! Disgusting, unnatural and filthy!

By your question I am guessing you are not a christian and if that is the case who cares what they think?

Do what you want to do, live as happily and completely as you can and don't question yourself... Feel the beauty in your choices and the deep contentment of knowing you are doing everything you need to do to live your one life to it's fullest.

I'm not gay by the way, I just think everybody deserves to be happy and not made feel guilty for anything they choose for themselves that does not affect others.

No, and I don't understand the argument that by granting same sex rights equally to homosexuals it is some how a threat to hetero marriage. I understand that many Christians are going to continue to intrepret scripture differently than myself and other liberal xians, but even if a xian thinks it's immoral, they should be able to recognize that everyone should have the same civil rights.

Check again.......Thou shalt not commit adultery. Adultery is a generic term which encompasses many sexual sins. The rest of you analogy doesn't work for me, for instance, you could steal my car without causing physical harm, yet it is wrong. Many things do not affect my personal lifestyle, but they are still wrong, counterfeiting money for instance.

Well, I can't answer as a Christian, but I have lived where gay marriage was legal. I recently moved from Massachusetts, where it has been legal for several years, and can affirm that it has changed absolutely nothing there. We were not smote, nor did our society collapse. Gays got married, and everybody else just kept on living.
