I can only hope that in the future, Dale Jr. will become a winner like his father, although his father wouldn't change anything about the car if it ran to the front. I also hope Dale Jr. no longer has to live with the drama that he's been dealing with this year. Godspeed to you Junior, and better luck to you in next years CUP. Hope his new car has an awesome paint scheme, and I at least hope he gets to use the number 38 he would like to run. #3 for his late father, and #8 for his past number.....

There is one big catch to the whole scenario. Alan Gustafson is a big Mark Martin fan and has been since he was a kid. I don't think that Alan would really enjoy doing it. What you may see happen is (now that Mark Martin is on the verge of entering the top 12) maybe run a few more races with Alan as Mark's crew chief just to get Mark in a comfortable position for Tony Eury to take over for a few races. That would allow Alan enough time to work to get Dale Jr in the top 12. Should there be a noticeable improvement in Dale's driving then you can chalk Tony Eury Jr up as being the source of the problem. I do want to see how Dale runs with Alan for a few races but I don't think it is right to take Alan away from Mark permanently. I think that would be unfair to Mark. That's a choice that should have been made a long time ago by Dale Jr and he passed it up. ------- The only thing about Tony Eury Sr coming in as crew chief is that Tony Sr has no experience with the COT.

I think it's great that you put a comment on here like this, even though you're not a Jr. fan! It's nice to see people being civil on here and not tearing into each other because we all don't like the same drivers. I was a bit disappointed that he didn't make the chase this year, and it's not going to be as exciting without him...but there's always next year, and the next! He's going to be around for a while, so I'm not worried about it.

I am not a Jr fan and i'm sorry but i was not cheering for him either. I am a RCR fan so of course i was cheering for Kevin Harvick. I do want to say that when i was listening to Jr's interview, i wished then that he had made it. He is one classy guy. I know we will see him winning next year with HMS!!! Good Luck to Jr!!!

Jr Nation will rise next yr....I want him to win some races for his team still this yr.. He drove his behind off tonight, I was here tonight with about 30 people in my place most aren't Jr fans but they all were cheering for him, He is such a nice guy, just look at the many interviews after the race...Great job Jr, just another DEI crappy motor night.. Go out and win one for the team before you move on to a better team next yr.. You gave it all you had tonight...

Dale Jr. delivered on his promise to his fans and his team: to give it his all. Thank you, it was a h*** of a race. To see the disappointment on his face was genuine and heart breaking.
You go Dale! We support you.

Everything is cool. Yea I thought luck was going to go his way there for a minute too. Oh well,,,,,thanks Maybe he can still win some races. Some of the new RCR and DEI engines should be coming out soon. Maybe they will make a difference.

How much class can one man have? Did you see his interview afterwards?????? No whining, no crying, no blaming anyone else except for having bad engines.
I want to say this to all Jr. haters.
If you think Jr. cant drive you dont know jack!!!!! He was doing a wonderul job of keeping up with Jeff!!!!!!!
I also dont think it was a coincidence that he blew yet another engine with only 5 laps to go. No way, no how!!!!!!!

He'll run like heck the rest of the year, doing what he was born to do.
Not my favorite, but he is one of my top 5.
Wait til next year, Junior Nation. Get him some good equipment and good engines, and he'll be in the thick of it.
