There was a guy I was seeing for a couple of months and last night stopped by his place and saw him in bed with another woman. Instead of asking questions and arguing, I just left right away, for I was hurt. I sent him an e-mail telling him how I felt (I'm sure he could have cared less, but I felt better expressing myself). I also stated that maybe I should e-mail the women on the site to warn them what type of guy he really is. I wasn't serious on this, just was angry. He e-mailed me back saying he could get me for slander and sue me. What does he mean by that? And even if I was serious, how could he even do that? And why would he get so defensive?

Your asking why he is defensive.

well your threatening him (for good reason) so obviously he going to get defensive, he's trying to give you a reason not to spill the beans.

i really would not worry honey slander can only go through a civil court and has nothing to do with the police
slander means when you go around telling people that someone is something there are not or did not do.
IE if you went around saying that he (please excuse the detail) that he is a rapist when there is no prove to stand that up or no truth in it.
i don't think that a slander case would go very far in your case it would cost him hundreds and hundreds of pounds.
there is no slander in this situation.
it is only when you damage someones reputation with lies.
don't worry.

look after yourself.

You are allowed to report him to a dating site if he is misrepresenting himself and its not slander if you saw it with your own eyes and its truth so good luck on him suing you, call his bluff. Its one thing if you were told he was sleeping with someone but you saw it first hand sweety, that is different. Report him to the site that posts his profile, most have terms of service rules and they will prevent him from opening an acct. Take Care.-Rachel

"Defamation is written or spoken injury to a person or organization's reputation. Libel is the written act of defamation, vs. slander, the oral act of defamation."

It depends on what you say about him and how you say it.

He was trying to psyche you out and turn the situation around to make you look bad.

Stay away from this loser, you deserve better.
