Who the Hades was the lonely person who decided it was them against the world when they came up with those terms?
I mean, I'm Pagan, and when the term "believer" is used, it usually refers to Christians. And "nonbeliever" refers to Atheists.
You people who use those terms don't even phrase it something like "A question for believers, non-believers, and the rest of you weirdos on this site". No, it's always like, "Why are you a non-believer?"
So, why do you do guys do it? Is it because you're that shallow-minded and paranoid, or what?

For verification, I wasn't calling anyone anything. It was a sincere question.
Also, someone said that believers believe in God, and non-believers don't believe in God. Well... what about us who don't believe in the Christian God, but believe in other Gods? What category do we fall into?

Hey, you know what? Non-believer is nice language compared to what athiests call Christians on this site all the time.
It has nothing to do with being lonely, shallow-minded, paranoid, etc. Non-believer is just a term and not even an insult.
Be well, everybody. It's sleepytime now.

I want to anser this honestly without offending. I am a Chirstian and only use the term "believer" in the company of other Christians. We all believe in something, so to use that term loosly is unfair. When in the company of Christians the term "believer" means a believer of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I make a point not to use that term in general.

Our terms are ambiguous. You have a belief system and so do plenty of others. An atheist believes in no god.
Common practice within a specific culture is the reason for using the terms. You made a good point. So, shall we all stop now?

That's a loaded question designed to either hurt someone's feelings, or make someone mad enough to try and hurt yours. I'll try not to do either. Christianity is the largest belief system in the world, so people (atheists well) tend to separate Christians from everyone else. It's like saying, "are you right, or left-wing?" Of course, we all know that there is more than right or left, but, because of where we live, it has become the norm. I hope this helps.

How about we regroup? Christians and Muslims and other Monotheists do tend to frame their world into the us-and-them of believers and non-believers, and to label Pagans as non-believers. (A lot of Pagans do the same kind of us-and-them in referring to Pagans and non-Pagans.)
That doesn't bother me a whole lot, because other people's labeling of me doesn't change what I don't *just* believe, but *know* bone-deep and in my heretic heart: In order to live, we need air to breathe. We need water to drink, food and shelter, and warmth. Personifying these things as Elements is emotionally satifying, but doesn't really require belief. That we have all we need to sustain us on this planet on which we were born is all the proof I personally need that the Earth is my Goddess.
I don't have to "believe in" the Earth. I don't have to believe in gravity either, but when I trip on a bump, I don't have any choice but to fall, because gravity works whether or not I give it my belief.
I'm a Witch, because the Craft encourages thinking things through, and because it *feels* right.

This website is mostly Americans, America is considered a Christian country. So, believers = Christians, Non-believers = not Christian.
Here in middle east:
Believer = Muslim
Non-Believer = Non-Muslim

Everybody believes in something. Even atheists believe in something: atheists believe that there is no god of any kind. So the word "believer" is not very descriptive. I prefer to use the terms "religious" and nonreligious".

The Bible says that in Romans chapter 10 verses 9 and 10, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth, the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou thalt be saved, 10, For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. It is the Bible, Gods Holy word that says the only way to Heaven is thru Jesus. Not Christians, Gods word is very clear, Jesus came in the flesh to earth to be a Perfect Sacrifice for our sins. He won the victory of the devil, the Bible clearly teaches that if you want to go to Heaven you must be a believer, you must be born again, John 3:3. Remember John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that who soever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. The term for hades is hell, do you believe in hell, you can't if you are pagan, that would mean you believe the Bible to be correct, if you do believe there is a hell, surely you must believe there is a Heaven, if so here is a simple sinners Prayer that you can say that will help save you if you believe, just say, Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!

simply put, a believer is someone who believes in god and a non-believer is someone who doesnt believe in god.
It is ok to ask why the other person feels that way, maybe they are insecure about there own beliefs.
