I do not believe in God. Why? For the same reason I don't believe in Santa Claus or Pink Unicorns or Red Dragons. They're all make believe creatures that have absolutely no evidence to back them up.

Religion to me seems very obviously man-made: it promotes human pleasure and human pain in the afterlife. It's agents are very interested in human affairs, but care nothing for the affairs of say animals or plants. It's institutions want wealth and power: also a very human attribute. It's leaders sometimes want to kill anyone who disagree with their religious view (e.g. Imams, Inquisitors): unfortunately also a very human quality. All of these things that religion does, I do not see the work of God, but the work of evil humans.

Religion (the system of belief associated with a belief in God), in short, smells of human desires, and evil desires at that: it's base desire for immortality, for sexual pleasure in the afterlife, for torturous everlasting pain to those who disagree with it's tenets, etc.

Of course, to make religion SEEM more humane to the everyday person, every religion adds some good tenets, so that (among other reasons) people like me cannot just plain point and say "Religion is evil." Religion also promotes some good in this world. Kind of like Bill Gates: he's a cheater, thief, and corporate bully, but he does donate a lot of money to charity. That's kind of like religion: it cheats poor people of their money in return for believing a happy story about a magical flying zombie, but then goes around and gives some of that money to other poor people (and keeps a sizable amount for itsel, kind of like a human corporation). Then religion goes around bragging about how much good it's doing in this world. That's another man-made thing about religion: it likes to brag a lot, and it likes to have a lot of pride.

Let's talk a bit more about the claims that religion makes about God. Supposedly, God - an all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, immortal, benevolent entity - made the universe and controls it to this day. OK I have to interrupt right there and exclaim, "WHAT!?" I have lived only a short 21 years, yet I can still look outside of my window and see a harsh dog-eat-dog world that is based on predation, survival of the fittest, and fierce brutal competition - of MORTAL COMBAT even. Now if God was benevolent, why would he create a world where mortal combat is the basis for the entire life of every living organism? The Earth seems more like the handiwork of a sadistic psychopath than any benevolent God, if you had to pick from between these two. But thankfully, there is the secular explanation, provided by science: that nature is brutal because nobody created it, and instead because it developed itself through a rigorous process of selection to let only the best organisms survive.

The world around you doesn't care if you live or die: if you jump out the window right now no God would pick you up and help you to your feet again. There is no comforting sky father to help you in time of need: those of us who are mature, sober, no longer in need of someone to hold our hand can look this fact in the eye without flinching. We don't need to make up a God to help us get through our everyday life: we don't need an emotional crutch. But other people are not so brave: some people need religion to help comfort their chaotic lives.

That's where God comes in again: he promises comfort - for a price. Among other things, that price includes sometimes even the rejection of reality (as is the case if you believe in the Biblical God, as you must deny the view that the Earth is round, that the Earth rotates around the sun, that evolution created humanity and not God, that the Earth is around 4 billion years old, and disease is caused by germs and not demons, etc.) I say no: no amount of comfort can get me to disregard reality. I could never lie to myself just to make myself feel better: in fact lying would only make me feel worse. No, I can face the world as it is: a harsh world without God. A harsh world where bad things CAN happen to good people - that's no mystery to me now because the uncaring universe doesn't carry karma: it is all just matter and energy. If you master those, then you can live a happy life.

No. It's a myth who's origin can be traced to ancient astronomy, where the star clusters were used to know the seasons for agriculture and herd migration. These later became anthropomorphicized and became the polytheistic gods of old. Over time, polytheism gave way to monotheism.

That's the summary of god in a nutshell. Death is final.

Yes, I do. Why? Because I believe in beauty and love. I know, that's a pretty hippy thing to say, but oh well.

I know that's not going to convince anyone else to believe in God, but that's cool.

What do you think for yourself? There is a God and he is not just in the after death.

I believe in one God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Through baptism, we become the adopted children of God the Father and our destinity is to share in the very inner life and love of the Most Holy Trinity (God). God bless!

Hey, I am a Muslim.

I have a lecture for everyone who wants proof of Almighty God. It is by the brilliant Muslim scholar, Dr. Zakir Naik. He proves Almighty God’s existence by using some of the many scientific verses in the Qur’an. Scientists are recently discovering these facts, but they were already in the Qur’an 1400 years ago! Please listen to the lecture. It is worth your time.

I believe the Lord God our Savior. I know He exists through the power of prayer, through the Bible and through faith.

Absolutely God exists.

Why do I have faith in this? Because I have accepted the covenant of the New Testament.

No gods because there's no evidence. What is today explained by gods will one day be explained by man.
