You can actually still see it. I left a comment on question I got best answer on, and in the comment box is shows top contributor under my name, but no where else. I hate being teased like this.

You should be grateful for such an event. I know many, including myself, that hate carrying the orange burden. You already shine without it.

I'll consume massive amounts of pasta for you... it will be my religious action to the Flying Spaghetti Monster for you.
But actually, this seems to be a common glitch, this "Comment Top Contributor" thing. I've seen several questions in the Yahoo! Answers section of this site asking about why there's a Top Contributor badge next to comments but not anywhere else on the site. I think it's a glitch. I hope they work it out. People seem to be getting confused.

What is this world coming to where a person has their top contributor badge taken from them for speaking their beliefs?

Not worth it. Messes up your name. I got rid of mine by ticking off a couple of people and getting a few violation notices. I hate orange.

Top contributor badge is of no consequence. They don't pay you for it.

It'll return, probably. And even if it doesn't, don't sweat it. For most people (people like me) it just means that you spend too much time goofing off at Answers. And, it sure doesn't stop them from deleting your account, lol :)
