I used to work part-time for a bakery a couple of years ago & I have their original recipe.
It makes enough frosting for one sheet cake 9"X13", with enough extra to make roses, leaves & trim.
This is the frosting used on Birthday Cakes.

I would use butter since it is specifically called for. While not "fake" butter margarine is a vegetable product. The two have different flavor, protein, and heat characteristics. I have seen may recipes ruined when butter is deleted and I don't mean just flavor. Don't be scared of butter--the amount you ingest is only a part of the whole recipe so likely you end up with very little butterfat per person. Chef Jack Garrison

Sure, I'll look at your recipe if you post it here. I normally use the one from my old Betty Crocker cookbook. But I'd try something new on my next sheetcake.

Monday morning - so are you going to add your recipe here for buttercream frosting?
