So a non-mormon cannot attend a mormon service to see if they like the religion?

Or is the 'secret' temple stuff only sometimes? Im confused about that. If I was interested in converting i would want to attend a service first

The temple is not for regular Sunday worship, or ward activities.

At our chapels is where we do all the usual stuff, like Sunday School, Sunday services, ward dinners and parties, that sort of thing. If you were to go to a chapel, you would see a sign in front that says "Visitors Welcome!".

If you talk to the missionaries and are interested in attending a service, tey would tell you, YES! by all means we would WELCOME you to one of our Sunday meetings.

And so you don't get confused, and, say, accidently go to theh temple, you would find that the temple is closed on Sunday and Monday. And there is usually a chapel very close by.

Mormon services are held each Sunday in a Chapel. Anyone can come and "see if they like the religion." This is the service you want to attend to learn about the LDS church, not the temple.

Temple services are totally different. These are scared, not secret. You must be prepared to go into the temple. Not everyone can attend.

To be "worthy" you must be living your life in harmony with the teaching of the church. You answer question and you are judging yourself. We could lie, but we don't.

The temple is a sacred place we go to to make sacred covenants with God through ordinances, just like baptism is an ordinance done in making a covenant with Christ that we will follow his example. The temple ordinances are there to help us live more Christ-like lives and to help us be better people. The reason why non-Mormons or even Mormons under the age of 18 don't enter the temple is because it is important to understand and live the basics of the Gospel of Jesus Christ beforehand, just like a student will need to know Algebra before moving on to Calculus. Otherwise, such a person entering the temple wouldn't really understand much of what is going on. Anywho, I hope I was able to be of some help. If you have any other questions feel free to message me.

There is a difference between a church and a temple!

ANYONE can come to church, learn and ask, etc...but in order to be in the temple you must be 18 and you must be Mormon for at least 1 year and you must have a temple recommend...(you go to an interview and they decide if you're worthy for one or not)....

So there aren't services, like every week church services, in the temple...just baptisms for the dead and sealing...and some other stuff too I guess...

The ordinances performed in the temple are sacred and are eternal. I myself cannot pass through till I've of age. But there is no real secret happenings, just the Lords work that needs to be witness by people who are a firm believer and have a strong testimony. The best way to feel the Temple spirit is to visit the outside. Just sit down and think about the Lord on his ground. It's amazing and I do it ALL the time because it's amazingly peaceful. I use HOURS and HOURS just thinking baout our Savior and it seems like minutes when I'm there. The secret? It's the Lord's house, he lives and resides there.

Non-mormons can not attemd temple sessions as temple sessions require a temple recommend which can only be aquirred by a member in good standing..

Non-mormons can attend regular church services at metting houses usually held in a 3 hour block on Sunday... There are additional meetings for certain age groups throughout the month Wednesday evenings is usually a youth meeting devoted to fun pursuits (ages 12-18) and once per month usually a thursday is relief society homemaking night (adult women 18+) activities usually consist of a project or projects (quitling, a craft, etc. or people bring their own) and socializing... Women sit around and do their projects while socializing....

That's basically correct. But some Mormons can't even attend Mormon ceremonies (they aren't really called "services"). Mormons have to be paid up on their tithes in order to hold a "temple recommed," meaning a card that allows them into the temple. So basically, it's a pay-as-you-go scenario.

As for the esoteric temple procedings, check out http://www.saintsalive.com and http://www.carm.org to find out all the goings on inside the temple. I can tell you there is no real worship, just reciting skits that they believe are "sacred."

The only way you can find out if you "like the religion" or not is to talk with people who are either members or FORMER members. You'll get more real information from FORMER members, however. The "missionaries" will only tell you what they think you can handle and leave the heavy stuff for after you're hooked.

Good luck!

no, our chapels are definitely open for everyone. About the temple thing is that you have to be worthy to enter the Lord's house. There's is nothing secret about it, just sacred.

I find it interesting that one needs to be deemed "worthy" by another human in order to get closer God. Didn't God send his only son to die for us so that we are worthy? I think I'll pass on having another person say I'm worthy and stick with God and how he sees us all as worthy of his love. The only rub is, we have to be open to receiving it.
