The movie was, of course, historically inaccurate; Salieri was a respected composer in his own right. Taking, however, the idea of the quote as inspiration, I find for myself other routes to the same end---mediocrity is not a feeling I struggle with.
For all of my self-deprecation, I am actually an enormously confident person. My personal quote for inspiration is from the grave of Rosa Luxemburg(an Atheist):
"The dead admonish us."
Life is to be made use of while we are alive.

If life throws you lemons, there is a reason for it. Can we expect to do everything we fantasize about? Certainly we should reach for our dreams, but ? Sometimes the answer is "No" and there is wisdom behind it.
I have extremely painful menstrual cramps every month, the kind that has me in bed for the day, the kind where the pain is from my waist to my feet and everywhere in-between. I've felt frustrated with God, a few times even angry, asking "Whyyyyy????? I don't see the point!!!" However, I've never decided to outright God for this.
In the movie, Salieri was human and imperfect, and didn't understand God's will for him. Maybe God's will was for Salieri not to be the best musically, but Salieri didn't see it that way. He was very short-sighted. He wanted glory from men, but maybe God's plan was different.
I was born blind (can see now) and have had 18 eye surgeries, the last one resulting in the removal of one eye. God has a reason for everything He plans for us. To fixate on any lack of immediate satisfaction is short-sighted of us.

I suppose we could, but the deal with Salieri was that he tried his best but didn't have the natural talent of Amadeus, who was a smart-*** punk man whore. In the end Amadeus died young and Salieri went crazy, so I don't think I'll look to either for inspiration...

Yes, I have. God's Grace is him just blessing you and being with you. It's just the feeling of knowing you have someone is your corner that is with you throughtout all the bad crap that comes with you. It's nearly impossible to put it into perspective in word what God's Grace is, but when I feel it truly in my heart, I want to just cry. It's the most beautiful thing that will ever touch your heart. All I can really say about it is thank you Lord for everything.

That is such a great scene!
It's the bitter end of being manipulative and judgmental.
The only way to not be mediocre is to be honest with yourself and this guy was pompous and pretentious through the entire movie. Thank God he’s a fiction so I could laugh as this bitter old man was spitting out his vile hate even with one foot in the grave and the other foot on a banana peel.

Salieri suffered from pride and envy when he realized he was not the greatest composer of his time. We should not envy others of their talents but rather, work to improve our own God-given talents---that's the only way to be the person you are suppose to be. How can you live your life trying to think how another person thinks if it's not of your own instincts. God does not torture men with longings ---they torture themselves and are disobedient to God's will.

Bodyfat... That was a Movie, and it was for Entertainment Purposes Only. However I have No doubt that there are some people on this planet that would say some of the things he said, either while alive & well or on their Death Beds....

what is the clay to say to the potter? nothing, for who he/she is, is.
what you create here on earth has no say, on why you created it, in what form, and what purpose, for you are the artist!
