I've made a really good friend out of this mormon guy. I spent the night over his house (his parents house really) because the next day I had to be at a confrence near his house and I didnt have the cash for a hotel and taxi. So he and I were in the livingroom with his older brother and parents just talking. And we were talking about how people assume things and make up stories about mormons. So I jokingly said Im gonna go undercover and spy on the mormons. His dad didnt like that at all.
As dumb as this is, do people do that?
if your a mormon, what that of offended you as well?

Only if you used subterfuge to get into the temple. That would bother me.

I don't really think it's offensive. But then again, I'm not Mormon anymore.
As to whether people have done the "spying" thing before...
Yes. Unfortunately people have pretended to "convert", and then written tell-all books about the intricacies of the Mormon church. Though it should be stated that these people usually didn't stay in the church long enough to actually learn anything, and most of them just used their imaginations to fill in the blanks. It's been done in the Catholic church, to Islam, and probably other religions as well.
Sad that these people didn't have better things to do with their time.

I can see why this offened them, there are some mormons who are like this, and don't want their lives torn apart, or spyed on because what they believe. I had a really good friend who was mormon, and used to tell us how people did try to discover their "hidden lives" because they were mormon and people though they were crazy. If they let you stay, it seems weird that his dad seemed mad at that, but it might have been because you said the mormons, I know my friends parents hated when you labled them like that.

If it was me I would have taken your comment as a joke.
I guess some people "spy" on the Mormons. Some people lie to get into the Temple. People go to Mormons meetings just to make fun of them later.

Well, some LDS may reject the idea. As for myself, I do not take offense with it. It might be interesting to see our self through an outsider. I am sure there are things I could improve on.

One more time honey, "If you were a Mormon , would that have offended you as well?" I don't think it would have, but then I don't take religious referrences very seriously anyway.

Are you non-Mormon? Just wondering because of the conference thing...a business or religious conference?
Anyway....yeah, some people do it and it kind of offends me since we'll answer anything openly as long as we KNOW the answer and it's okay to share it...like we can't tell you certain things about the temple...some stuff like that...but otherwise we're very open about our beliefs.

Hmm. Well, hate to be the first to break this to you, but SOME people take their faith/religion seriously.
Yes, as dumb as it sounds, people really DO take it upon themselves to "spy" on others.

No he shouldn't have taking that as an insult, unless they are hiding stuff.
