Of course it was not right to kill anyone or take land, but "legal' is the wrong word. The concept of legality does not apply to what went on.
It was immoral to do those things to native people (nobody is denying that), but IT IS NOT FAIR TO JUDGE PEOPLE IN HISTORY BY THE STANDARDS WE APPLY TO OURSELVES TODAY.
By whose authority would anyone be tried and imprisoned for ripping off the aborignal people?
Don't forget, the aboriginal people themselves fought wars, conquered each other, took slaves, and so on. These were not uniquely European vices.

Seeing as how they were not an established society with laws, there were no laws broken. Most of the land here was also unoccupied. Tribes were scattered everywhere and some were living in almost inhumane and incestual conditions. Plus the tribes were all against each other too, according to their 'race.'
When laws were established they should have been followed and were mostly followed until the last 25-30 years.
IF you are weak in history, I suggest you study it and find out how hard it was for your ancesters to come here. Then you will perhaps get angry about illegals who are invading. They are doing their own people wrong too by cutting in front and just taking. People who want to come here the right way are working hard for it (besides physical labor, they are following procedure and laws). People who want to come here, but not legally are invading and it needs to be ended.

The implication seems to be that we should all somehow transport ourselves back to pre-1492 borders. It is a far more racist argument than any I've heard from those seeking to stem the illegal immigrant invasion. The crowds waving Mexican flags may wish to re-fight the Mexican-American war, create the nation of Aztlan, and give a good many of us a one way ticket off the continent but such arguments tend to backfire badly with the American public and are only accepted by white apologists and the occasional guilt-ridden college professor. Attempting to deal with modern realities and the modern concept of nation-states should not be an insurmountable intellectual achievement. It is not racist to state that any nation should not allow ten thousand people a day to violate its borders.

It was not legal.
When Christopher Columbus came to America, he thought he was in the West Indies, and labeled the native Americans as Indians.
When word got to Spain, Italy and England of how rich the land was, and how primitive the people were, they began a plan to seize the land for themselves.
So they killed off the Native Americans for their land.
They enslaved the Africans, to make them farm the land for their profit.
The Europeans really have a truly despicable history when it comes to America.
They even tried to say God told them to do the atrocities that they did. They called it "Manifest Destiny".
