Greetings! Legal aid was necessary for those in Active duty before they received their dishonorable discharge.

For those of you who have not served in the military, a military member has to screw up MEGA-BADLY in order to receive a dishonorable discharge.

People who get discharged for drug violations do not get dishonorable discharges. People who get busted for sexual harassment do not get dishonorable discharges.

It would take something like gettting caught trying to smuggle three pounds of Pot in Air Force One or get convicted for axe murdering twenty bunkmates in the dorms in order for a dishonorable discharge would be produced.

Dishonorable discharges are also issued for desertion, which in any military culture is very bad kharma. Refusing to obey an officer will get you a general discharge and failure to act (refusing deployment) probably would get you less than an honorable discharge.

My diatribe is to explain to the laypeople that a "Dishonorable Discharge" is very rarely handed down and is done for aggregious offenses to the mlitary and nearly always involves a courtmartial.

Once a dishonorable discharge is handed down, it automatically revokes rights for federal, state, and usually local county and city jobs.

Therefore, once a person is dishonorably discharged, they should not receive any veteran benifits whatsoever. Yes, this sounds heavy, but remember, a Dishorable Discharge means someone has REALLY messed up in the military. They just don't deal those out indescriminately.

Take care.

Cough up the bucks for it, and you got a deal.

Promote your cause, but leave me out of it. I'm taxed out.
