There are plenty of fish in the sea. To go after one of your siblings as a prospective mate is wrong. Wow, and I know this is some kind of joke.

There are two main reasons that incest has been made into a taboo. First of all, in a situation where you have like a parent/child or uncle/niece thing going on... there is the fact that the older and more powerful member of the 'couple' has undue control over the actions and thoughts of the younger participant. It is an abuse of power thing. The second reason, and the reason that ancient civilizations began making rules around it... is because of the children produced from such arrangements. It is very unnatural for the gene pool to be that closed, and it results in some very bad concentrations of DNA material that can lead to very tragic situations.

Whatever they do should be between them, so yes, it's ****** up that they don't get those civil rights.
For the record the deformations are extremely overestimated... There is no real genetic problem with incest except that if a recessive genetic disease was present, it becomes more and more likely that they will present themselves. The kids aren't likely to be any worse off than the royal families of the world right now (probably the most inbred families on the planet). It's the raising of that particular brand of parents that has the negative results.

It's an unpopular opinion to think this, but I agree with you.
Incest, to me personally, is uber gross.
But it should not be illegal unless someone has been coerced (like any other sex act).
Although I would be seriously concerned for the mental state of individuals who would have incestuous relationships with immediate family members and would suspect abuse.
As for genetic disorders in children...
society does not prevent people with bad genes from reproducing together. Carriers for hemophilia or diabetes can have kids and no one says a word. And actually, genetic problems don't usually happen until a family has been inbred for several generations.
(and p.s. - birth control...it's a good thing...)

If you're trying to equate homosexuals with incest couples then you're wrong.
It's not a civil right issue with incest couples, it's a medical issue. Children that come from incestuous relationships have a high probability of having severe medical issues.

If you want to marry one of your relatives, go ahead. You should never be put in a position to be able to fall in love with one in the first place. Maybe you are a product of such a marriage and that is why you ask. It's not right. Yuk!

You read a lot of "Flowers in the Attic" and other VC Andrews books haven't you?
Anyway I think the having kids is a problem ...the whole genetic thing.
And yes I have seen a couple children of incestuous relations and generally it ain't all that great.

" Society tells them it is not right. " That is about incoherent as one of these fundies answers to an evolutionary question. You know damn well that in populations incest can breed lethality. There are good evolutionary reasons for avoiding incest on average. The fate of several royal families, who were " above societies conventions " should be instructive to you.

As long as one of the two gets 'fixed', I don't really care. What I don't like about the idea is the children that might come from their union...
Not that I'd ever marry a sibling, even if we couldn't have children...

It's been taboo for thousands of years for good reason. If the couple has a child it has an increased chance of having birth defects. Putting their own desires ahead of the well being of future offspring is pretty selfish.

There are plenty of non relatives to fall in love with, why not look else where.
Relatives put the health of their children at risk by combining their genes that might carry hereditary deceases that they would not cause their children to have it they procreated with non relatives
