Anything that enslaves. Think about it. You tell a lie and where do you wind up? In a circle of lies.
You steal and it enslaves you. Suddenly you're suspicious of everyone and afraid you will say the wrong thing to the wrong person.
You commit adultry and your life is a shambles.

It's everything that would make a slave out of you.

Sin is first of all a failure to meet God's expectation of righteous (perfect) behavior. A failure to measure up to His standard of Holy Perfection.

Our parents (Adam and Eve) having committed the original sin, have passed on to us a predisposition to commit sin.

Sin is error. They committed error, and as a result, we have error resident within us. However, Jesus came to earth and rectified the situation. So it is really important to know that we have sinned and fallen short of God's glory, but that we have a sacrifice for sin - the lamb of God Jesus Christ - who takes away our sin as we believe and trust in Him.

According to the Bible: sin is disobedience to God.

It is also disobedience to self, which is why the Bible equates it with self-destruction.

Unfortunately the term today is associated with "etiquette."

Tisk tisk.
