My husband just deployed to Iraq, we found what we thought was a really nice condo back home to rent while he is gone, day 1 we left and upon return we see 3 or more little hoodlums pushing my sons fisher price car that we left in our BACKyard about as fast as could be, my mom went up to the little girl who was in it and asked for it back, since then the GHETTO AS HELL butchy looking broads, sit outside their house and "MAD DOG" us as we walk or pull up, the fathers drive past and "MAD DOG" us with their stereo systems bumping as loud as possible, my mom visited me and the little bastards dug mud from my front yard and smeared it on my moms car and window, they took my doormat (parents did make them return) it just seems as though they are really uncooth, kids carry large rocks and threaten other kids with them, is there anything I can legally do to protect me and my family from these heathens from hell? they dont own this property and I hate that they act as though they do, pleasehelp

yes you can file a complaint with the police, just be aware your neighbors definately wont be too friendly with you then. And because you are renting you are responsible for the damages done to your condo. Good luck with this. I cannot believe kids these days...they are crazy..

As a non-smoker I empathize with you completely. Unfortunately, there is not a lot that can protect you against this. I'm assuming you are renting a condo from the owner? It doesn't matter really. But If this is the case about the only thing you can do is ask the owner for a copy of the strata council bylaws. These are bylaws created by the owners of the condominiums and everyone has agreed to abide by them. For example they may have created a bylaw that says that while smoking is permitted within the unit itself there is to be no smoking in the common areas or on the balcony/patios. If this bylaw is in place then all residents are expected to comply or face consequences. If there is no such bylaw in place then your only recourse is to see of there is a law in your state that covers rental unit complexes and condo complexes. It's possible but unlikely. No smoking bylaws protecting tenants is becoming more common place. For example many residential buildings no longer allow smoking in the elevator, hallways or common areas. There are even some buildings that are entirely for non-smokers and it is by the way not considered discriminatory. The tenants are non-smokers and their guests are not allowed to smoke anywhere in the building including the apartment unit itself. If you have no success and you are renting then ask the owner to bring the matter up at the next strata counsel meeting so that everyone is aware of what a nuisance this problem can really be. If enough condo owners are being affected perhaps a bylaw can be drawn up and a designated smoking area set aside. Other than that, all you can do is appeal to the neighbor.

Your best bet is to get some of their behavior on camera (camcorder, phone, whatever). Then talk to the cops. It would be a lot more helpful if you could band together with some of your neighbors in this, and just BOMBARD the police with calls. I just went through my own "neighbors from hell" episode, but with redneck "alleged" meth-house jerkwads (a lovely couple) who were letting their pack of 9+ pit bulls run loose every night. Two neighbors and I just tag-teamed the HECK out of the police/animal control, and man, they very quickly got so sick of hearing from us they actually did something about it. AND, because the majority of neighbors were involved (very rural area; three neighbors is a majority), so far we've had no retaliation. It still could happen, but I think the druggies are kind of overwhelmed/shocked by the fact that all their neighbors have joined together to put a stop to at least this garbage.

Tell your landlord, or called the police and have a police report filled out. Get about a couple people and have a petition that these people are really bad. Then if you act fast enough you can have that police report and petition as proof that your neighbors are noisome. Say like in court or something. Or you could always move out?

You can file police complaints, too much noise, destruction of property and vandolism. You should have a serious "parent" talk with those horrible neighbors and tell them its not appropriate for children to behave that way and you will contact the authorities on the family if you are foced too.

I don't think theres anything you can do thats a problem with bad neighbors. You cant make them move.lol
But yours seem really bad.Everytime something is missing I would notify police so theres record of the problems going on.So ,if one day something extrmely bad would happen you they will have some history of it.I would get invisable fence put up or something....home alarm system. That way it notifys police immediately. You need protection while hubby is gone.

wholy heck! i am SO freaking sorry first of all for you having to go through this.

might want to try to set up a mediation with them, obviously they are angry.

maybe if you bake something nice, bring it over and ask if you all can talk in a nice manner about the problems.

they need to understand something very important. your husband is in Iraq FIGHTING for THEIR FREEDOM and when they steal your things and smear mud on cars you own it is an insult to what your husband is doing for everyone.....

do they know he is in Iraq and just left?

they should be a lot more thankful towards you. hate can come in all colors sadly enough.

my neck of the woods use to be a very quiet clean place to live. now people are moving and renting out their houses to make money. not all of the renters have "manners" for others.

best of luck. you should move in the dark of night and get away from thugville.

Ok, its completely understandable for you to be angry, and/or upset... but first things first, you... nor any adult have any business calling any child a "little bastard" no matter what they've done. Yeah this seems like a meesed up situation but you also have a child and so do i... How would you feel if someone called YOUR child a bastard? It wouldnt be right would it? Nope. Maybe instead of calling the children names, you could take this up with the parents, since its actually an adult situation... But to answer your question, yes, i do believe talking to the landlord would be best.

You need to get out of there honey. If you can't then try talking to someone that you think may be your enemy. You may be surprised at how they react. If they see that you are not the neighborhood beatch maybe they will leave you alone and you can watch out for each other. Just don't be aggressive.

Consider talking to them and asking them to have their kids ask to use your children's toys and to not put mud on your car. Bake a cake or something, bring it over and just get a dialog open with them. If that doesn't work, just keep your distance from them as much as possible. is there a condo board you can complain to? It sucks to have rude neighbors, I hope you find something to make your time their more enjoyable.
