there is a boy about 16 years old and he has this gigantically big unusual acne or pimple on his face between the upper part of his nose and eyes about 1/2 centimeter radius. this thing has been on his face for about two weeks and it would not disappear. he has been putting 10% benzoyl peroxide on it every day and its not growing bigger, but its not shrinking or leaving his face either. this thing is like a huge bump but you dont see black, white or anything in or on the bump like pimples and acne.....he and i dont even know what this is.....what should he do about this? should he keep putting the benzoyl peroxide on it even though its not doing anything (or it might be keeping it from erupting)? we dont know what to do....thank you for your time, and please help him.

Okay i had this type of Pimple ZIT whatever you call it.

This is a cystic acne lesion. These are the worst. It seems to grow under the skin and it will go away in about 1 and a half months.

I Remember before REtin-A micro i used the Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5 and it took about 2 months for it to go away.

I had one of these a month ago and it went away in a month because i started using Retin-A micro.

Dont even try popping this one. these are the ones that will definately leave a crater in your face if you pop it since you are not popping the cyst...your are actually cutting your skin open.

The best advice is this...Dont pop it and remember to tell him to start noticing the suttle difference and change in his cyst. If he starts feeling a little decrease in size then he will need to wait with that thing for about a month. He should not rub or pick at it because these easily form into multiple cysts if he irriates them and he might end up having them for 4 months straight like i did.

If in two more weeks he doesn't see a decrease, then it is a definite go on the Dermatologist. IF he has medical insurance then it is a definitely good idea to see a dermatologist, but that is if he isnt afraid of going to the doctor.

All i can say now is wait and see. Also i am impressed 10 percent BP? I have been using BP almost all my life and that stuff just outright burned the hell out of me. I stick with the 2.5 percent it works fine for me.

It could be some sort of cyst.
I'd say keep using the benzyol peroxide, but before that, get a very very hot cloth(it'd probably make his eyes water) and put it on the pimple thing for 10-30 seconds to draw it out. Dry it off, and then put the benzoyl peroxide. It should go away within1-2 weeks(hopefully!)
Good luck

It can be a cyst that needs sugical intervention.
If it's red and hurts when you touch it then it is probably just a skin infection similar to a pimple. However, considering the size and the location of the bump, it is not advisable to try to pop it out. The triangular area surrounding the nose have venous drainage connecting to the veins inside the brain so it's really a no-no to try to mess with it.
My advise: Have your doctor take a look at it.

You're a good friend to show concern of this issue--something I hope you treat with a great measure of discreet sensitivity.

This "bump" may not be acne, but either a wart or other skin condition, best treated by a DERMATOLOGIST; a good one can be recommended by this person's doctor.

In most cases, early detection may bring early effective treatment.

What I don't understand is why his parents aren't concerned about it. That's what dermatologists are for.

The thing that always worked for me is holding a square of Maximum Strength Stridex pad on the spot for about five minutes, twice a day. It will shrink the acne and dry it up.

He needs to keep an eye on it for infection, which can spread. He doesn't want a huge skin infection in the middle of his face.

While it took little less than two months for me to really see a difference, my acne, blackheads and whole lot of other skin problems I had such as eczema had completely cleared! It was totally amazing...

Get Rid Of Acne Permanently?

It could be a cyst. Sometimes acne can make these nasty cysts that stick around forever. You will either have to wait it out or go see a dermatologist and he can inject it with a solution that will shrink it in a day or two.
