I'm really wanting to understand, I have no religious background...so I'm really new at this and have just began reading the bible.
My question: how will I know if I truely believe that Jesus died for my sins? I mean, I believe what I have read, but I'm just having a hard time grasping how that will help me? So work on not sinning anymore, but it's ok if I slip up, as long as I believe in Jesus I am forgiven?
I just don't understand and if anyone could help me.
I really feel like God is knocking and I want to open the door, but how will I know that he has actually come into my life? And if I'm going to get spiritual attacks for believing...then I'm sort of afraid because I have had so much bad happening the past few years I'm afraid of going over the edge.
I work to accept the things that happen that their is a master plan for it all and God won't give me more than I can handle. I'm just not sure how much more I can deal with.

I just wanted to add
I am an adult, 31 years old, and a single mom of 4. I trust that God is helping me get through this life since I have nothing but my children and God at this time. I do it all "alone" and I am actually happy with what God has given me. I just want to build a strong realtionship with Jesus and have a strong faith.

God is so good. I know it seems overwhelming but know this God knows your trying to understand and he loves you. Its not just believing in a God or his son Jesus. It s realizing that God sent his son to die in place of us .That we truly know that he did that for us and not only died but rose again to prepare a place for us who believe. If you ask christ to come into your life and be your savior. It is simple as that .It says in the bible ,child like faith. God knows your heart .We all are sinners. We sin everyday. It's human nature. Having a relationship with christ is what he wants. He will protect you , call on him always.. I hope this helped .

Your heart will tell you that Jesus is the real savior, and he died for your sins. The world will tell you that he is a lie. Jesus was not of this world and neither are his children. He was hated by the world and so we will be also. When you are born again of Christ, you will pass away the old sinful things willingly that you once did, and promise to live upright to please God. Doing this you will begin to see God's plan unfold before your eyes. And your relationship will grow in a way that you have never imagined possible. Then that sweet peace will fill your life, and all of life's situations that come will not be hard to bear. Sure we all have trying times, but I have been through the storm with God and without him. With him I have shelter from the storm, and peace that I dearly need. Without him nothing is possible, but with him all things are possible. God will give you strength and faith as you grow. Read your bible daily, pray daily. And before you read, ask God for spiritual understanding and guidance. Each day ask God to forgive any sins you have committed, even if you can't think of any and forgive all the hidden sin that may be in your heart. God will never fail you or leave you. Just believe and receive in the name of Jesus. You can feel free to mail me if there is anything I can help you with. God Bless and Good Luck.

*Is Catholic*
The most spiritual advanced Christians can always be easily know by how emphatically they say that they have hardly begun to know God.
I would say to you that coming to understand the things that you are having difficulties is something that even if you had all the time in the world is something that you would barely begin to understand. What you must do is make a beginning each and everyday.
Specific answers to your questions.
>>How will I know if I truly believe that Jesus died for my sins?
Answer: When you stand and wish to receive baptism. That is the start of being able to say you believe.
>>I'm just having a hard time grasping how that will help me-- Don't concentrate on how it will help you. Concentrate on if it is true. If it is true, then do you wish to be a part of the faith and life it out? Then be baptized. Let "it" help you as God wants.
>>but it's ok if I slip up, as long as I believe in Jesus I am forgiven---
Answer -- No! You must REALIZE what you have done is wrong, RESOLVE not to do it again, REPENT of your actions, and make RESTITUTION for the damage done by your sins. The Catholic/Orthodox ability to have the sacrament of penance makes this biblical demand easy, for the non Catholic non Orthodox this is harder.
>>but how will I know that he has actually come into my life---
Answer -- When you begin to life the Christian life. It is in Acts 2:42-47. Having God in your life is to live the life of the people of God the life of the Body of Christ.
>>And if I'm going to get spiritual attacks for believing
Answer -- Yes BUT only in so far as you are able to handle them. CONSIDER THIS: Your situation now, as you are considering becoming a Christian is also one of danger and spiritual attack. Not all doubt that you have comes from you. And being without baptism means that you do not have the graces of baptism to help you more easily choose to believe. Part of baptism is the grace of the theological virtue of Faith which gives you strength and ability to say yes to God when you want to and not let doubt cause you to be slow in your yes.
>> have had so much bad happening the past few years I'm afraid of going over the edge--
Answer -- This I would talk to you in private about.
If you have anything else any other questions at all...feel free to message me.
Peace of Christ unto You!

When u ask God to forgive u, then He does, and u have to just believe it in Ur heart, as for the spiritual attacks, well those come in levels if I may use that word, at first ur attacks will not be bad, as u grow and learn of the Lord, and learn to depend upon Him they do get worse, but it is not for ur harm, it is for ur growth. When I was living in the world I was back-sliden, and I had it made, but the moment I came back to the Lord, all the money and things that I had made that was against the law, all of it was taken from me in a matter of about 3 hrs, no i didn't go to jail for it, but God made sure that I didn't keep any of it, I know in my heart that Ur attacks will not be that bad, but just hang in there and trust what u believe, and read. And ignore all of these so called atheist out here that would like to get u to disbelieve. God Bless

If you asked Jesus to come into you heart and forgive you of your sins then you are a born again Christian. Yes satan does attack Christians as I found out. Continue to read your Bible and know that as a born again Christian that God is always with you and you can call on Him to protect you. The battle is not ours but Holy Spirit who is in us. Stand firm and call on the name of your savior. ( I wish I had that advise when I was younger I called on His name but not as soon as I should have.) Know that God loves you and as you read your Bible He will give you more understanding and help you to put away sin in your life. It may never be 100% gone but it will be very close after all only Jesus ever lived the perfect life and no one else ever will until Jesus returns.

We as Christians believe what God says over those things that anyone else says. Jesus promised us something, the Holy Spirit. He does that at the end of John 15 and in the midst of John 16. Check it out when you have a chance.
It was the Holy Spirit giving me no doubt that He is who He says He is, and that I can pick a promise that He has made in the Bible and hang my body on it. That's a description of an act of Faith. Faith = trust. And I trust God. Eventually, I ask Him to learn how to love Him too. And He showed me how to do that too.
So us Christians have proof of God, and can only show that proof when God wants us to, because He holds onto the proof, and let's those that want to know Him see it. All other people cannot see it.
Here is one of the most important things to trust God for:
John 3
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
Trust Him for that, and I promise, you and your life will change.

For one, accepting that Jesus died for your sins gives you an amazing amount of self worth, that God Himself would give up His status as God for a time and humble Himself to be treated the way that Jesus was treated by many here for your sake.
You will start to really grow in your new faith by having fellowship with other believers.
Bad things in our lives often serve to shepherd us toward God. He makes good out of all the bad.

It helps you because you have been created anew in your belief. You were considered dead and now you have eternal life in Jesus. Slip ups will happen, it is more about your attitude when they happen than anything. Your forgiven for those when you recognise what you have messed up and ask for forgiveness. I would say that you should find a local church and go to service and Sunday school. It will really help you to have people around you who can help guide you. They can also support you if you feel spiritually attacked.

There are many people like you in this world who have the problems similar to you . You seem to be sincere in your search. For some one like you with open mind and humble heart, I would strongly recommend the following websites, which I assure you will solve all your doubts regarding Christianity and you will come to know the true teachings of Jesus Christ.
Please log on to thedeenshow.com and turntoislam.com Here you will share the experiences of similar persons like you and know the true message of Jesus Christ.
This is very important, please keep in mind "the hatred of some people towards Islam and the ill-practices of Muslims should not hinder one from seeking the Truth.

well if you truly beleive, then you will want to make changes in your life to show that..
spiritual attacks happen when someone is weak in their faith and satan uses this weakness to convince the person they are not good enough, that they dont really beleive etc. i know cos it happened to me a few years ago.. i was brought up in a christian family, but i didnt really make my own decision until i was maybe in year 9, and thats when i was extrememly doubtful about my decision..
if you have had so much happening in your life in the past couple of years, take heart that being a christian is not easy, but God is there and he wants you to rely on him and put your faith in him, no matter what is going on.. he can help you through.
but i think when you understand that jesus died taking on your sin, and you want him to be number one in your life, you will know that you have the holy spirit... and if you do decide that, there will be a party going on in heaven lol. you made God smile.
