Well the Bible considers our good deeds as filthy rags. Anything we do on our own is that way.

On the other hand, if we are living for Jesus, then His righteousness, passion, and love fills us and good deeds are fruits of that.

So I guess it depends on what is behind the good deeds.

Spreading the Gospel, teaching Sunday School, Singing in the Choir, vacuming the rug at church, cleaning the church toilet, giving some one a ride to church, giving some one money without expecting anything in return, helping some one do something they can't do for themselves at no charge, keeping my mouth shut / not gossiping about some one.
