Read of Paul's missionary journeys and your will see a man who has been through it all and was able to say, "I CAN do all things through CHRIST which strenghtens me!" And he has set the example for all of us to follow. If You are in Christ, then, there is nothing you can't do when it comes to meeting the goal and the race that is set before you, but you will also find that without Christ, you can do nothing that has any worth in heaven and in your own strenght or power, you can't go very far that amounts to anything with God. Paul also was able to say, "It is no longer I that lives but Christ living in me." So again, let us find fellowship with the same Jesus, Paul knew and loved.

Paul is saying, what Christ wants him to do, Christ enables him to do. Where the finger of God points, the hand of God provides the way. In all things I continue to be strong by the One who infuses the power into me. Paul has such strength as long as Christ keeps pouring the power into him. A living Christ on the inside is more than sufficient to endure the circumstances on the outside.

Strongs' Exhaustive Greek Dictionary has the same number
for the words "things" and "word" and "words"; #3056 and
#4487. Paul was able to do the things which Christ gave
him to do, through strength given by Christ. If God gives
us a work, He will also make the way for us to perform it.

Paul was given the wisdom needed, by revelation of Christ
Jesus, and everything else needed to perform the duty set
before him.

Jesus himself answers this question at John 14:28 YOU heard that I said to YOU, I am going away and I am coming [back] to YOU. If YOU loved me, YOU would rejoice that I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am. This is why it is written, God exalted and God gave Jesus a name over all names, the giver can not give anything over himself, this is explained at Col 1:13-19. Trinatarians follow a pagan belief that has been adulterated into Bible doctrine, this is why false religion is called a Harlot & the daughters of harlots.

He looked at the things that Christ suffered even dying on a torture stake, what he (Paul) suffered was nothing in comparison. So looking as Christ as a model he gained strength

It means that the LORD God has an unlimited supply of riches in His grace at His disposal, and He is willing to give out of that supply to His children. “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. . . .And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:13, 19).

I means exactly what it says nothing is impossible with God or for God. Paul is telling us that when we try to do things on our own we fail but when we have Christ we can accomplish all things. He is our strength we are our weakness.

My Quest Study Bible (which is NIV and says "I can do everything through him who gives me strength") has a side note that says:

"Everything means all that God desires us to do--not absurd, selfish or evil things. In Paul's own example, it meant that God had given him the ability to be content whether he had plenty or overwhelming need. God's grace will sustain us no matter where he leads--even when we lack material things."

The power we receive in union with Christ is sufficient to do His will and to face the challenges that arise from our commitement to doing it. He does not grant us super human ability to accomplish anything we can imagine without regard to His interests. As we contend for the faith we will face troubles, pressures, and trials. As they come, ask Christ to strengthen you.
