I'd guess another 10 to 20 years.

The issue is with pattern recognition. A two year old child is much much better at recognizing everday objects. The software does not yet exist to make any robot or machine equal to the two year old child's pattern recognizing skill. Since people have difficulty sorting things in the recycling plants, robots have a long way to go. My guess would be 50 years. Maybe 30 if the military gets interested in robots that can recycle trash!
