YES - ABSOLUTELY TRUE
i know that by my own experience - i chated on msn with one girl
and one day i noticed that whole computer was messed up - run to store and bought Norton AntiVirus and it was gone after running Norton - since that case i keep Norton so much better than any other anti-virus program - girl later told me she got virus from someone thru messenger too but she tought she had gotten rid of virus

The only way your computer can get a virus using "messenger" is if you have the file sharing option enabled.
How to stop it? ...... Go to "preferences" and under "file transfers" check or highlight "do not accept files from anyone".

yes, messenger lets u to chat wit people u know and people u dont know, and as ur open to all, anybody of them can send u virus, or unknowingly a virus can attack u, so use a anti-virus software that protects ur internet status, the best is norton internet protection and norton anti-virus

Yes it does, run a good virus scanner and firewall. I use Pidgin for my chat client, it allows me to chat with friends on multiple chat clients all at the same time!

I also like it because it supports RSA encryption so if you need to have a confidential conversation you can by simply encrypting your chats.
