Hemp protein is more digestible. Plant nutrition is always better than something like whey.

whey is beneficial for body builders because it is the most quickly absorbed protein by the body. This is preferred for several reasons. Because muscles need protein to repair themselves and to grow after intense work outs, and the body releases certain hormones (and certain nutrients affect the release of certain hormones as well), and the metabolism is accelerated after the work out, the athlete wants to get amino acids in his or her blood stream as quickly as possible for best results when it comes to muscle mass gain. Getting protein right after a work out is the most important time for an athlete to have it. And that is why whey is good for that, since it dissolves very quickly and the amino acid delivery is quicker than most other proteins.

Hemp has its benefits too. It comes with fiber and essential fatty acids. I don't know if hemp protein is absorbed quickly, or if it takes longer to absorb. Soy protein and caisein (milk protein) take longer to absorb which results in a smaller delivery of amino acids to the blood stream, but for a longer time. personally, i consume all four. i take casein in the morning, a combination of hemp and whey after my work out, and soy protein right before going to sleep.

non-animal protein sources are not as biovailable as animal proteins. basically what this means is that after digestion there is little usable protein left for use. the biological value of most animal proteins ranges from 70-100% while most non-animal sources range from 25-65%.

say you have a serving of beans that has 5 grams of protein, after digestion only 2.5 grams are left. with whey protein 100% of the protein ingested is available for use. this is one of many ways that protein supplement are superior to whole food supplements.
