If you have confessed and given the sin up and been forgiven by the Creator of the Universe. Who are you to not accept it and forgive yourself? Lets practice. I say don't be so self centered if you will forgive me for saying so. You say yes I forgive you although I disagree with you. See you forgive me for being a smarty. Then get serious and let go of it. Christ died so it could be forgotten. Do so.

The average human being has 40000 thoughts a day. As a guess lets say 10000 or a quarter are sinful in some way, How long do you need to confess to get straigtened out with God ? That's right, it's impossible. A lot of mis-guided people look at 1 John 1 and think they have to confess their sins to get forgiveness however another part of the bible says that we are forgiven of all our sins UNCONDITIONALLY, ie with no strings attached, by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross......is there a contradition here ? Absolutely not, the first book of John was written and addresses issues to the gnostics who believed that the Spirit was good and the physical was evil, if you read the 1st chapter, note the number of times it talks of touching & seeing Jesus.
Your sins are not forgiven based on your confession they are based on what Jesus did 2007 years ago. Think about that and thank God for Jesus, claim your forgiveness and ask to be released from your lying by the power of what Jesus did.
Hope that helps

It's a case of knowing what the scriptures say. Once your sins are confessed, they are forgiven.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Many Christians do not understand these things, you cannot rely on your feelings because the enemy seeks to confuse you and make you feel condemned. In Revelation 12:10 Satan is described as 'the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before God day and night..' This means that Satan is constantly pointing at you (and me) telling God that we are no good. We hear this in our heads all the time, Satan puts those thoughts in our minds and we think it's our own thoughts.
You could try praying out loud, 'Father, I recognise that I have listened to the lies of the enemy, and have believed myself unworthy and unforgiven. I repent of this and reclaim any ground that Satan may have made in my life because of this. I commit myself from now on to believing what your word says, I know I am forgiven and free in the love of Christ.. I am your adopted child and I no longer need to sin. Amen.'

Choose one person who you trust, and ask them to hold you accountable. An accountability partner usually will need some help of their own so you can help them as well.
The Bible says "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrightousness". These are the words of God; a promise you can absolutly rely on! Your feelings mean nothing in the Truth of God's words. Give them to God in prayer, then let 'em go.
May God bless you cousin, and your search for Truth.

If you are a Catholic I would advice you to see a priest about your problem.
The Gospels tell us that when Jesus walked this earth not only did He forgive people of their sins, He told them that they were forgiven. If He had not told them so, they would not have had certainty that their sins had in fact been forgiven. After His death and resurrection, on that first Easter Sunday, the first commission that Jesus specifically gave to his Apostles was the responsibility and authority to forgive men's sins:
"Again Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.' And with that he breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.'" (John 20:21-23, NIV).
How was Jesus sent? With full power and authority from His Father to bring about reconciliation between mankind and God, including the power to forgive individual sins. Jesus has begun the process of reconciliation and has appointed individuals to continue His work as His ambassadors. How are they to know which sins to forgive and which to retain? They must hear them in order to decide. The person seeking forgiveness will know that they have been forgiven when they have been told.
