Americans are one of the few cultures that refrigerate their eggs. Most countries (I live in Mexico) keep their eggs on the store shelf. Shelf life is 3-4 weeks. However, an egg "rule" is that once you put an egg in the fridge, you cannot go back and store it on the shelf. I would throw your eggs out. What happens is this....once in the fridge, eggs get cold, of course. Once taken out, they start to sweat inside and out...you know this because they get damp on the outside. Once they sweat on the inside, they need to be immediately used or they go back within a few hours.

In Europe, eggs do not need to be refrigerated like they do here. The reason being is that we pasteurize eggs here, which destroys the bacteria, but also destroys the eggs natural coating within the shell, allowing new bacteria to enter the egg. Keeping the egg refrigerated at this point is necessary. But Eggs off a farm That er organically produced Like they are In Europe are Better left Room temp and Will last 7 to 10 days

Egg quality can decline more during one day at room temperature than during one week in the refrigerator. Refrigerator temperatures (40 degrees or below) not only help maintain quality by slowing the loss of moisture and carbon dioxide from the eggs, but also keep bacteria that cause food-borne illness from growing. When cold eggs sit in a warm room, moisture from the air will condense on the shell surface and the eggs will look like they are sweating. This speeds up the loss of quality and can allow bacteria to grow.

There is a huge difference between the eggs that come fresh from the henhouse and eggs that have been in the store for weeks. Flavor for one. When I stayed at my uncle's "gentleman's farm" in the early 60's, it took me a while to get used to the stronger flavor of his eggs, but now I miss it.
You have to be extremely careful with mass produced foods, because the companies that distribute them pass along the responsibility to make up for their own carelessness on to you. Capitalism is about money and power, not people and ethics.

Thats a good question. I've wondered this after noticing that my mother-in-law leaves her eggs out on the counter long after breakfast is over....and only hours later puts them back into the refrigerator. And this is an everyday thing, that can't be healthy!

it won't "go bad", but it is safer to put them in the fridge as it will last longer. it is okay to leave egs at room temperature for 9 hours ... even a few days is ok. don't worry!
my suggestion is just leave them in the fridge next time if you have doubts
hope this helped ! :)

They do not go "bad" but they do attract Salmonella - it is best to rinse then boil or otherwise cook then refrigerate the cooked eggs an use in the next 3-4 days.

i would say they are fine unless you've already had them for a while .....I'm in the navy I'm not a cook.. but on my boat we just store our eggs in the fan room..( just recirculates the air through the boat) and we still have eggs 4-5 weeks later so i wouldn't worry about it...
