Did you know ....?
Jesus lives in our town.

Does anybody kow where?
Does anybody really care?
Yesterday I met him,
in a shelter for the homeless.
Yesterday I met him,
in an oldage home for the poor.
Yesterday I met him,
in a hospital room, alone and dying.
Yesterday I met him,
a victim of dispair.
They all looked at me and said:
Does anybody know?
Does anybody really care?

Of course.
The Lord often told us to look after each other. He even went so far as to say that what we do to each other we have done to Him. In the poem, the poet has visited the elderly, homeless, sick and depressed.
In all these cases, what the poet did (minister to these people) were the same things that Jesus did. He also would encourage to visit those imprisoned and living in sin. He said that it is the sick who need healing, not the healthy.
Far too many Christians distance themselves from those living in sin as a sign of rejection of those sinful ways. But the Lord would say go to them and minister to them. They are the ones who need to hear the Word of God most.
