On labor day weekend, i rented a car with some freinds and ended up in Atlanta, Ga. A police officer gave me a traffic violation for turning right on a street that was only for buses, since i was a tourist had no clue at all.
so i ended up with a traffic violation(not for speeding, nor passing the red light). can somebody advise me what should i do? I am a KY resident and since it was in Ga, will this affect my pionts, will my insurance know? shoudl i show up? or just pay it? somebody told me not to worry since it is a out of state?

Georgia is not a member of the DLC, but will still report tickets to your home state.
Whoever told you not to worry, doesn't know what they are talking about. Contact the court in Georgia, and see what your options are.

Call the number on the citation and ask the clerk if they have a procedure for changing a moving violation to a non-moving or equipment violation. I would do anything rather than have my insurance rates go up for the next 3 yrs. In addition, it appears your state assesses 3 pts against your license--ouch (see link below). If the amount of the fine and the increase in your rates would be less than than hiring an attorney, then pay the fine. I've added a link below, maybe you can find an attorney through one of these referral services that would give you an idea what an attorney would cost to make that ticket go away or at least change it to a non-moving violation.

When you are pulled over by any cop in any state the first thing they do is check your license to see if you have any warrants. So your drivers license number is already in their system let alone it will be associated with the citation he wrote you. You can find out by calling the agency that wrote you the ticket if there will be points put onto your license. Your insurance will know of the citation as well. If you do not payt the fine within the time frame they gave you there will eventually be a warrant out for your arrest in the state of Ga for failure to pay traffic fine. Which in turn means the next run in you have with any law enforcement in any state and they run your name it will show that you have a warrant in Ga. Find out which agency wrote the ticket and contact them, if it was Georgia State Patrol they have a website. Also on the ticket should be the court house address on there, you can look up that court house online and find a phone number and call them. Hope this helps.

Well don't just forget about it, that's horrible advice. You might consider trying to find a GA lawyer. It'll usually cost you less than the fine, and you won't have to show up. If you have a court date, SOMEONE must show up, if not you then your lawyer. And yes, it can still affect your insurance as your Motor Vehicle Report is nationally registered.

Probably better off just to pay it and explain it if anyone asks (insurance, licence bureau, etc.). If it's a lot of money you could get help from a legal professional but that wouldn't come cheap either.

pay it. if you ignore it, ultimately a warrant will be issued for your arrest. imagine your out driving one day and you get pulled over. they run a warrants check on you (they always do) and then have to take you to jail for not paying a fine from years ago. it happens all the time
if you get lucky, your insurance won't find out. but they might.

It will show up on your driving record. Pay the ticket or get an attorney.

If you have time I would fight it but you will have to go back to GA to do that, which will be cheaper, to pay it or go back to GA?
