The Bible often refers to "light" and "darkness". I suspect the whole good=white and evil=black comes from that.

As to their being any racial connotations? ...only if you're a racist. God created all the genotypes, so there is no evil in any of it. I suspect it's just another way to tell each other apart - and something else to enjoy.

White means absence of color and therefor is pure. If you through mud and dirt on it it becomes dark.

The day is white and safe, The night is dark and dangerous.

A black panther or scorpion looks and is far more dangerous than the lighter colored animal.

These things are like so, even in societies where the have no black people. Wake up, you are drowning in political correctness.

Nothing to do with race. It probably stems from darkness and night time being the most dangerous time for our ancestors, who had little protection from big predators like bears, lions, crocodiles, etc. Beyond the circle of firelight lay all sorts of dangers that they couldn't see, including various spirits, ghouls, and goblins that lurked invisibly behind every tree and rock. Thus, black--the color of night time--came to be associated with evil, fear, and other negative things.

White is associated with death in some cultures, as it is the color of bones and burial shrouds.

No. It's a cultural thing. In Asia, they used to wear white to funerals and black or red to weddings. I'm not sure if they still do.

Edit: That's funny, Julia's answer must have come up while I was still typing.

It's kind of a cultural thing. In some cultures (China I think? and others) white is the color of death, worn at funerals. If you wore white to a wedding there it would be extremely bad luck for the bride and groom.

No it's purely a religious thing. Without God there is no light.
Walk in a dark room. No God. Now turn on the light God. Which do you prefer.

No connection, matter casts a shadow and therefore is dark, light being all freed from the physical, at least that's what I think.

It really depends on the culture (or religion). In my religion, all colors are considered equally, and black is not an "evil" color.

Jesus represents light, and Satan represents darkness, because darkness is the result of what happens when there is no light. Therefore Satan is the result of a life without God.
