I'm not religious actually I dont believe in a higher being whatsoever. I just find it hard to believe all together and I really don't feel like trying. Am I a bad person? If later I have a realization and do believe in a higher power will my sins be atoned for?

Furthermore how can "jesus christ" be all merciful when he sends people who don't believe in him to "hell." What kind of a god that people look up to punishes even makes people fear him if they do not believe him?

Don't get me wrong I still have very good morals, I myself believe I am a kind and humble person. I'm just a kind of that needs proof for everything. So as for a religion I'm sort of neutral, there is no strict evidence of evolution or god I think. but then again how good are the thoughts of a 15 year old?

2007-09-08 14:00:18 · update #2

by good i mean accurate.

Also i often think. is there proof or somewhat even a little bit of proof but still rock hard proof about how the universe was created? Because there is somewhat proof that there was once a "jesus" but then again that could just be folk tale or etc etc. such as people believed in earth gods and air gods but it was just taken further and had a book made about it. And then if it would end up that there was this groundbreaking fact that "jesus" did exist, but not fully like you know maybe 40% about jesus 20% about another way (such as the big bang or what not) and 40% unknown and I still didnt go to church untill it was 90%. Jus tthinking out loud here. And what is buhdaism?

Also if you could not leave biased answers, that would be very nice. It helps that much more :]. But if you have some information from your "side or opinion" such as evidence that would be nice too!

I believe george washington is real because he existed only 300 years ago, and there is documentational proof that he exists and that he was the first president. And it also does not state that he created the world or the sun or the air or something else that would be hard to believe.

Although your question, eagle, did put me on witts end. I had decided that I stand by the answer above. Because true anything that isnt actually happening today or something you havent seen for yourself could be fake. But if the majority of people believe that it happened but as for religion and how the world started is a different thing. No one truly has evidence....at the extent of my knowledge that is. So nonetheless a dilimma I am facing.

2007-09-08 14:41:09 · update #8

Tuber you say, "clearly he is not" like you have spoken with Him. But this I know you havent. So why do you believe he exists? For security? Evidence you have seen? Because there is a bible? I'm not trying to question your beliefs i am mearly trying to make one for myself with parts of other peoples'.

2007-09-08 14:44:32 · update #9

Furthermore you say that "He" puts his desires into people, but you say you have a spat with people who do not think he isnt an ordinary person? Isnt that a little oxymornic? If people dont have desire put into them then how would you expect them to believe he exists?

2007-09-08 14:46:38 · update #10

I do know your answer is probably going to be something along hte lines of. Well that's why people preach His words. Still what proof does that give? That someone said he created the world and that he should obey you or you go to hell? I'm still not entirely clear on the hell thing? So if you dont believe in him will He bring you to eternal damnation or not?

2007-09-08 14:54:43 · update #11

By do not believe i mean. Do not believe and when you die he ends up being real.

2007-09-08 14:55:07 · update #12

I might think about being christian, as one example of incorruptibles. They were catholic saints and their bodies still havent decayed. That's a pretty rock hard evidence fact that a holy entity preserved it. How im not sure, why im not entirely sure either, but I doubt it naturally didnt decompose. As for the jesus thing im not entirely sure either, i suppose it is possible that one person couldve created the earth and the sun and etc somehow but how??? if only there were answers to my questions.

2007-09-08 15:34:26 · update #13

But still i havent jumped the fence, im still on the middle. Just a little more towards christianity. But only a nudge!

2007-09-08 15:38:37 · update #14

But then again anything could be possible, if someone could make planets and the sky then it could be possible that iwas coincidence that it happened to be only catholics whove experience incorruption. so i guess i will stay neutral for the rest of my life which really is not a big deal to me.

Some people believe in Just in Case, and not Jesus Christ.

If I am correct, I will know it. If you are correct, neither I nor you will know.
Did you ever read anything by C. S. Lewis concerning his conversion from atheist to Christian? He stated that someone like you is "being bothered" by God.
While not sure of what to believe, many are angry that God doesn't just prove He exists to make it easier for them to choose. Pretty interesting reading. C. :)!!

OK there's a lot to your question and I'll be missing bits because this doesn't all show on the answer page (lol) but there are a couple of things that stand out.

1) Jesus was a historical figure, so you don't have to worry about comparing Him with George Washington (I loved it, lol)-- whether you believe He is the Son of God or not, he was around.

2) God does not send people who don't believe in Him to Hell. Good heavens, there are people in some parts of the world who have never even HEARD of Him. And what about small children, who have never even had a chance to LEARN about Him, or people whose parents have never taught them about Him? No... He's not that kind of God. People go to Hell because they know about God, sin against God, and have no remorse whatsoever or care that they have hurt themselves or other people.

3) If you later have a "realization" you will always be taken into the fold, so to speak. Your sins are already forgiven; God forgives them as soon as you make them, whether you ask Him for forgiveness or not.

You're not a bad person, but it'd probably be a much more comforting world if you looked at it from the POV that there IS a "higher being" and a purpose to the world-- even though this is just a fleeting place to be, in preparation for the next world. No, the purpose of believing in a high being is not to find comfort in the world-- it is to accept what is there and that there is some control. Bad things happen to good people and man's free will has created some huge messes... but you're not bad. Spend some time reading, contemplating... so much is out of man's control... that's not so hard to believe that there is order in chaos because of the miracles around us that we see every day.

Good luck on your search and I hope I've answered SOME of your questions!

Don't be fooled into thinking that you have your "whole life" to believe or not to believe in Jesus. None of us know when we will die. Even very young people die. If you die without accepting Jesus, you will not go to heaven. It will be too late, then. Jesus said "The time for redemption is now." That means you should accept Him now, because tomorrow may be too late. There will be no second chances.
I can see that you are a bright young person, who is full of thought and wonder. And that is a wonderful thing. However, being a good person doesn't get you into heaven, either. You can be the kindest person on earth, and not go to heaven. It is all about believing in the Lord Jesus Christ.
I assure you that Jesus is real. Jesus is God in the Flesh. God made Himself man, and came to earth to SAVE US FROM OUR SINS. Everyone is born in sin, and must be BORN AGAIN. In order to be BORN AGAIN, one must REPENT (or turn away from) our sins, and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Then, live your life for Him. We are not our own. WE WERE PURCHASED AT A PRICE. WITH THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST, WHO PAID FOR ALL OUR SINS. If He hadn't done that, we would all be doomed to Hell. But, because He loves us so much, He died a horrible death so that we may have eternal life with Him. This is a PROMISE He makes to us, if we accept Him. God NEVER breaks His promises! He never has, and He never will. I pray that you will seriously think about all of this. I am a Christian, and I love the Lord. I love you, and I don't even know you. How is this possible, you ask? Because Jesus lives in me, and I know Him personally. He is not boring, no matter what you may think. He is amazing, and so is His love.
There are only two paths you can take. One leads to eternal life in the presence of God. The other is eternal damnation in the Lake of Fire, with satan and all his followers. There is no in-between. Nothing. Black and white. No gray. Please pick up a Bible, and read the gospels. If you only read one gospel, then read the gospel of John. At least it will tell you about Jesus, so you may have a chance to know Him. How can you reject Him, if you don't even know what you are rejecting? At least read about Him, ok?
I'll pray for you to come to know Him. God Bless

No, you're not a bad person. It sounds to me like you haven't made up your mind yet, so you're still searching.

And it's never too late to atone for sins (as long as you mean it)...not until you die, anyway.

As far as hell goes, WE decide whether we're going to hell or not. God just respects our choice...for eternity. I know this probably doesn't make much sense, it didn't make sense to me for the LONGEST time (I've only been a Christian a few months, up until then...well, it's a long story), and sometimes it still doesn't.

Keep searching though. I'm confident that as long as your mind is open, you'll find what you're looking for.

As far as having "accurate" thoughts when you're fifteen, don't belittle yourself. You're only three years from becoming a legal adult, and in a few years' time, you'll know exactly who you are. Most of who I am now was formed during my late teenage years, starting when I was about fifteen/sixteen.

You every right to believe what makes sense to you and what doesn't, I believe God loves us unconditionally no matter what. As far as going to hell over this alone is what believe. When we cross over, we watch and feel our past life here. We feel the pain which we have caused, and the pain this has caused others, and so on, like ripples in water. Now, think of Hitler, of mass murderers, of mass rapists...etc. Now, there's some incredible, unspeakable pain. Which was completely avoidable. Can you really think of a worse hell? Also, it’s from God, so it has purpose. Not only does it teach, but it is custom made for each of us. It’s not just some mindless thrust of some sinner into the same hell over and over. If you believe in God, He has given us a simple rule to escape hell. Unconditional love for Our Creator, and for all others, including ourselves . If you don’t believe in God, then follow the rest. It’s that simple, and that hard. Give God His props. We need to stop listening to a flawed Bible, sucking it all down without discretion. Anyone who knows the Bible’s history should be aware that it’s been messed with over and over. I know there is a God with many names and many faces. However all my proof is subjective and not objective, so it probably means nothing to anyone but me. However if you want to hear what's happened to me, let me know. I've played with Angels, been pulled out of my body, enjoyed a peek at the nearest part of heave, and received instantaneous answers to prayer.
may peace be with you

You're not a bad person. You have the right to think for yourself. Even Christians are SUPPOSED to believe in free will, regardless of whether or not they want others to be able to excercise it. Figure out what YOU believe and what you don't, don't worry so much about what others think you ought to be concerned over. If you don't believe in a higher being, why worry that it's going to punish you? Think for yourself, and whatever you decide is most believable to you, go with that. Just don't become rude about it when you decide what you believe and you'll be fine.

Edit: And you don't need to believe in god to have morals. Plenty of religious people have committed atrocities, and plenty of atheists have lived upstanding lives. Morals are contained within the person who holds them, they only use their belief system to justify what they already value themselves.

It is never to late to start your life over, the Bible clearly teaches that when Jesus died on the cross all sins were forgiven once for all but of course you do have to believe in the one who washed them away, his crucifixtion at calvery opened the door to salvation for all, Romans chapter 10, verse 13, for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, we have to except Jesus by faith, if you will read your bible and seek God he will find you if you are willing to believe, alot of people say if God shows them he is real they will believe and then he shows them and they don't. If you believe in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ you can be saved right now, Jesus has paid the sin debt and is now waiting for whomever will accept his free gift of salvation. Just say this sinners prayer believing , Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!, If the Holy Spirit has come into your heart now you have a big change in store, it is a great peace, if you got saved there willbe definitely a feeling of a burden lifted off of you, that was your sins being washed away. Find a church that preaches out of the Bible, and also read your Bible everyday, Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God, romans, 10:17. Good Luck on a new journey!!!

This is the PRIME TEST that anyone can ask of themselves about God:

Ask yourself, " Do I WANT to know God?"

If yes, then you are chosen by Him.

If not you are not, and therefore you don't need to waste your time on it any more.

God puts the desire into people. Without that, there is no possibility to know Him. The issue that I have with people is that they tend to treat God like He is any other man. When clearly He is not. This is because He OWNS everything. It's all His. Even those who reject Him are His.

So those who do not understand these major points are not going to understand what He said about Himself.

Why are you using your ignorance to deny My providence? (God is asking you this) Get ready to fight because He is going to demand some answers from you and you must reply. Where were you when He laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me if you know so much. Do you know how its dimensions were determined and who did the surveying? What supports its foundations and who laid its cornerstone? Who decreed the boundaries of the seas when they gushed from their depths? Who clothed them in clouds and thick darkness and barred them by limiting their shores and said, "Thus far and no farther shall you come. Here shall your proud waves stop?"

i don't think your a bad person, just a little confused on everything. you are young, but not young enough to not be held accountable for not trusting in jesus, the bible says the only way to heaven is through faith in christ. you have a lot of questions here, and it would take a lot of room to answer them all but if you like you can contact me and i'm willing to answer what ever you need. i feel the best way for you to find god, is to get alone somewhere quiet, and get on your knees and just ask, it must be sincere though, god knows if you are serious about wanting to find him. ask him to show you what you need to know to find him, to give you signs in his existance, to guide you. tell him you want to know whats real and whats not. it can't hurt to at least try and seek him, if i'm wrong and he doesn't exist then you really haven't lost anything in looking, but if i'm right, and you don't even try, then you are losing out on the rest of eternity. so i suggest that you just give it a try, i'll be praying for you, that you find him, because he loves you and doesn't want to lose you forever. give him a chance before it's too late. the bible says that the only way to truly understand it, is to ask god to show you, and once you accept him into your life, by just having enough faith, the size of a mustard seed, thats not a lot, just that tiny bit of faith, that he's there and watching over you, then he will reveal himself to you, and impress upon your heart and mind what everything is all about, and what you need to do. i would love to hear from you, feel free to contact me, i will do my best to help you out. go bless.
