Piper, just calm down. Your mom should be just fine. She will need to take her antibiotics as prescribed and to take the WHOLE COURSE. Don't let her stop taking them when she feels better, she needs to complete them all. Otherwise, there is a chance of relapse and/or her body building up an immunity to the meds so if she ever needs them again, they won't work. As long as she takes her antibiotics and drinks AT LEAST 8 glasses of water a day, the infection should clear up.
We all know that we should drink that much water, but drinking that much will also ensure you mom's kidneys get flushed through.
Also, the meds she's taking may make her extra sensitive to sunlight so take precautions when going outside. Sunblock, shade, hats etc.

Your mom will be fine. The best treatment for a kidney infection is to take antibiotics, and that's what she was given.
She would also benefit from drinking LOTS of water, and also cranberry juice. Make certain that she finishes all of the medication, even if she begins to feel better before it has all been taken.

Kidney infections are not serious, if treated right away. Again, your mom will be just fine. I'm sure she is thankful to have someone who cares this much for her.

i disagree with high fluid intake based on the gastric bypass. she'll be okay, but all her doctors should be aware of all her medical conditions and all her meds.

ask her what you can do to help her. i'm sure that'll be a great comfort to her.
