Problem with Photoshop CS3?

I've been using Photoshop CS3 for a couple of months now, and it's been great. All of a sudden when I try to open a file from CS3 the "open" dialogue box flashes open and disappears. CS3 is then locked up as if that window is open somewhere, but it is nowhere to be seen. Any idea why this might happen and how to fix it?

1. Do you have second monitor that is not turned on that might be where the open dialog box is?

2. Try using Adobe Bridge - launch it from the toolbar "Go to Bridge" button in PhotoShop and try opening files from there. If they open then just use that - and it's much easier.
