Just as God is imaginary and put forth by man, religions were invented by man also.

Religions often have different goals and ideals in the world that call out to different people. Also religion is based of the the geography where it is practiced (for example islam with desert nomadic lifestyles and buddhism with heavenly mountains and peaceful, serene forests).

The religion you choose can often come from your background, family ideals, where you come from, and childhood memories.

I am sorry to say but we will never have one religion because we are all so different. The reason your parents tore apart is because they had very different values. It's ok to have different values, but religions need to accept each other and appreciate the different values.

Hope this helps you understand.

Actually, I don't think we need any religions to have a better world..the golden rule says it all...it needs no clarification, it needs no translation, it needs no amendments..." DO unto others as you would have done unto you" and conversely, "Do NOT do unto others what you would NOT have done unto you." What else do we need to have a kind, loving world? It seems that further modifications, ammendments, and "clarifications" to these rules get us into very deep trouble, and that is what the world is coming to..very deep trouble. IF the Golden rule had been followed, we would never have had a religious war! I have found NO PLACE in the bible that condones murder, theft, assault, or any other crimes I can think of. Yet, religion after religion seems to justify all actions against fellow man in the name of the very god they SAY they adore! Politics and Religion...both promote the same things...hypocracy and agenda, neither of which serves all people at any time.

If there were just one kind of anything the world would be a very boring place. Although differences can cause difficulties, we really should celebrate them because its what makes life so interesting and wonderful.
I'm very sorry about your parents, but, having known many people with divorced parents, there is never just one reason that two people split up. And it usually is for the best.

There never will be. Human nature and all that. It would be much better if there was no religion in the world at all. People could still believe if they want, they just don't get to do the things that religions do. Like, try to force other people to believe the things that they do. Meddle in politics. Insist that their beliefs should be taught as fact in schools, etc, etc.

I am sorry that it tore your parents apart but there were probably different issues too. You just don't know about them and probably shouldn't. I agree with you on the religion thing though. But everybody has to be right, you know. All of their little details have to be just so and no one else could possibly be right. Maybe some day...

Inability to compromise is what tore your parents apart. They chose to make religion an issue.

And the reason there can't be one religion is that we all come from different places, with different challenges and we all have free will and our own minds that seek our own truths.

Personally, I am glad everyone is different, as I believe that life is interesting due to our differences, not in spite of them.

I'm sorry it *tore* your parents apart.
This is why Jesus warns that it's not a good idea for believers and non-believers to be yoked together. However, if two people are already married, and one becomes a believer, the Bible says that it's the responsibility of the believer to show the other love and remain married to them unless the non-believer chooses otherwise.

I believe that the God of the Bible never intended for all these different religions, even amongst Christians.

There will never be one religion, because human nature is the one thing that has never changed since the beginning of time.

I think that any Christian religion can open the doors of Heaven for an individual.

Man

THAT is a question that has caused wars for all time...

I believe that it is because Religion has nothing to do with God, or Allah, or Bhudda, or Appollo, or Jehova, or Ra, or whatever it is you happen to buy into as a manifestation of divinity.

Religion is a structure of beliefs formed by mythology, culture, and history. Often used as an excuse to persecute another culture.

It is not, in and of itself the truth.

Nobody wants to hear that though.

Thats is why it should not be about religion, but a relationship with Jesus. Religion just gets in the way. It is about man made things. Knowing Jesus and making Him known is what it is all about.
