Well it's good that you already took his temp and that he's not running a fever. Will he let you look in his mouth and poke around to see if there are some teeth coming in? My son just recently had a molar push through, and it took about two weeks total. He was very cranky and chewed on his fingers a lot. Give him some motrin or tylenol to help him calm down and dull any pain, and check his mouth out. If it looks like there's a molar or any other teeth coming in, I would invest in some more motrin, tylenol and hyland's teething tablets. If you can't see any teeth, I'd still give him a dose of some pain killer to help him feel better and sleep through the night, and then see how he's doing in the morning.

It sounds like he's teething. Did he just realize that his ear is there? I mean, sometimes they find it and a month later it's like "Wow! What is this?!". My son is eight months old and does that. He'll play with it for a few days, then about 2 weeks later he's at it again.
They drool, fuss, and bite things when they're teething. I've heard that some do get a runny nose, but I don't know for sure. Call the doctor and ask. It's always better to ask a professional if it concerns your child.

It could be teething. Babies cannot pinpoint where their pain is coming from...so if their mouths bother them a lot of times they pull at the ears.

But just in case...call the doctor and check for an ear infection. Usually ear infections are common with cold like symptoms...

Take Care.

It sounds like teething to me. My son had chronic ear infections from 6 months old - 15 months old and he never pulled at his ears and he always had a pretty high fever, 102 or more. At 10 months, we finally had to get tubes put in his ears but that didn't help either. I would look to see if your son's gums are swollen or puffy and red. If they are then you might try some of those homeopathic chew tablets, if you think he is teething. But if your really concerned then I would call your pediatrician or a nurses hot-line. Hope he feels better!

Keep a close eye on him. It might be the teething. But my son would get ear infections and he'd exhibit behaviors like you note before he'd pop a fever. One night he dug his head with his little finger nails - we got up and he had little scratches on his head (mostly on the sides as that's as far as he could reach). But the tugging at the ear, hitting it and such makes me wonder as my son did that before fevers. ... Put in a call to your Pediatrician and ask for a call back. See what they say. Keep an eye on him to see if he gets a fever.
Good luck and God Bless.

It could be either one - teething or an ear infection. He may also have a sore throat. Take him to the doc tomorrow so that if it's an ear infection or a sore throat, the doc can give meds so it doesn't get any worse. If it's just teething, you could try rubbing some oragel on his gums to numb them.

He's probably teething. I wouldn't worry about it unless he starts running a high fever. Remember, they can run a low fever when they are teething, under 101. Give him some Motrin before bed if it will help him sleep. Teething pain can cause negative ear pressure.

Sounds to me like teething, it can cause all of those symptoms...I'm not sure about the runny nose though. I'd call the pediatrician and talk to a nurse just incase.

Same thing happened w/ my 8 month old. I thought he had just discovered his ear since he wasn't whiny or crying. But I still took him to the dr's office and it turned out it was an ear infection. I would just take your baby in to be sure.

This could be a sign that his ear is hurting. You need to check with a health professional to make sure that he does not have an infection. Any infection needs to be cleared up as soon as possible!
