I think you are the right age my lawyer told me I could when I was 12 but that is in Oregon. If your mom doesn't want you to go to your dad's or finds him an unsuitable parent in any way this may take awhile to process so be patient and hope everything works out for you!
ps. I never had to have a court hearing to switch custody but then again I had permission from both parents to switch it.

It really depends on the state.
Your best bet is to call a lawyer, they will tell you and for a question like this, they probably won't charge.
Even if you want to move to Wyoming, it is still up to the courts to decide where you'll live. If there is a history of a stable life in Texas, then it will be hard for the courts to justify breaking things up. If there are indications of abuse or neglect then your father might have a case. The tendency is to listen to the kids, but not let that be the deciding factor. The courts must decide what is in the best interest of the children.
One thing to remember, just because you think that the grass will be greener in Wyoming, reality will set in soon enough. the grass in Texas and Wyoming will be brown in the summer.

You would have to have someone check on that for you, as it could vary state to state, but you should be able to talk to your Dad. He should then talk to your Mom and make arrangements, and if you tell your Mom this is really what you want to do, then it should be ok, if not, you Dad can petition the court for full custody of you, and they will ask you what you want. I would reassure your Mom that you love her, you just want to live with your Dad.
Good luck to you!

your dad would have to go and file for custody of you..unless you mom says it's ok which i'm assuming isn't te case here..so if that is what you and your dad really want tell him to file and then they will ask you if that;s what you want and since you are a teenager they will want to hear what you have to say and tell them how you feel.. i hope it all works out for you..

I think it is 14, you could look it up, I think it's different in every state. If you can convince your mom to let you go live with your dad you can.

yeah, you just have to give a good reason as to why you want to live with your dad instead of your mom to the judge...why do you want to live with your dad...

You have to be 14 and you have to have a court hearing. One of your parents will have to initiate and pay for that hearing.
