I definitely believe it's your subconscious talking. Even if you may not have admitted it to yourself, I believe deep inside you want him to tell you he loves you. In my experience dreams are either things that need to be interpreted, or your subconscious talking. Ever lost something and dreamt you found it?
At any rate, I wish you the best...I don't know how long you've been together, but hopefully your dreams will come true, literally... :-)

After six months, usually the honeymoon period is over but the relationship should still be strong and he should at least say I love you when you say it. If there is a lot of stress in the relationship or in other areas of his life, he may be withdrawing from you. Some people handle stress this way even though it's better to talk it out with you and others that he loves. Try to be patient and talk with him about it. Just recount past times when you were sweet with each other and tell him how you miss those times and see how he reacts. If he still seems distant then maybe some space or a break would be good. Just be honest with him about your feelings and maybe he will do the same - although it's hard for most men to do that it seems...

Dreams are often connected to your sub-conscious, which is connected to your soul, or your energy. And a dream is like a gateway that uses images and feelings together to send a message to your conscious mind, because your thoughts, words and actions are guided by your feelings which creates an alignment in you. The more in-alignment you are the more happy and good things, and experiences you will be attracted to you , your perception of life will be open. The more out-of-alignment you are, the more you will attract negative and bad things and experiences. Your perception of life will be narrow.
In your dream when you heard the words "I really love you" do you remember the feelings you felt?
I will tell you why after this.
In your dream, the reason your boyfriend tells you "I love you", is to remind you everything is fine and will be fine, it might be deep down inside you may have worries of something, it may not be necessarily relationship worries it could be a worry that you focus on day in and day out that has strong emotions attached to that thought.
As far as the why it was your boyfriend, it is because, when you go out with someone and create a relationship, it symbolizes "new hope" for yourself, and your friend or partner. In truth, our energy or soul knows only love. That is why we create things, and we use the energy around us and inside of us to create our happiness. From a grain of sand to a molecule in your body, everything is created by the same energy operating at different wavelengths. Only in alignment can we tap into the source that is infinite in power, all good and loving, to bring forth our wish.
The reason I asked you earlier about the feeling you felt when he said those words is because whenever you feel worried, negative or sad emotions, replace it with the feeling you felt in your dream, the happy, loving, harmonious, confident feelings. This will give way to positive thoughts which maintain a feeling of alignment, Oneness. Your emotions are very powerful because they are the driving force. "E- MOTION = 'energy in motion'."

I truly believe that dreams are a way to see what is in your heart and what you don't want others to know. So I think you hearing your boyfriend saying "I really love you" is what you truly want deep inside your heart and maybe it can really happen if you ask your boy friend when you're alone if he really loves you. If he does he will tell you!

According to Dreamcrowd:
To see your boyfriend in your dream, represents your waking relationship with him and how you feel about him. To dream that your boyfriend is dead, indicates that something in your own Self that is no longer functional and is "dead". You are not being allowed to fully express yourself. It is also symbolic of your own relationship with that person. Perhaps you need to let go of this relationship. If your boyfriend is away and your dreams of him involve a lot of touching, signify how much you miss his presence and have him being nearby. The dream is telling you not to take the day to day things for granted. Learn to cherish the smaller things in life. To dream that your boyfriend tells you that he is gay or that he doesn't love your anymore, represents your own insecurities with the relationship. It may also mean that the relationship is moving to a new level to which you are expressing some anxiety and fears about the changing situation. You may feel left out it in his life or that you are unable to share in all his experiences. It boils down to trust and communication.

Yes! It really means you were asleep!
REM sleep is good! Keep it up!
Dream = not real.
Awake, (depending who you are) = reality.
Please don't use dream imagery as a guide for life.
If I did what I dreamed, I'd rule the world in my underwear.
