Sprint and Nextel and Nascar came to an agreement to allow AT&T to finish this season as the sponsor but next season has to have a new sponsor.
Correction 2009 has to have a new sponsor

An agreement was made that AT&T will be able to keep their name on Jeff Burton's car until the year 2009. Everyone involved thought it would be a good thing to come to some kind of agreement so that Jeff Burton and the #31 team can concentrate on the Championship. I'm sure Jeff will have no problem with finding another sponsor!

The deal had to be reached because Cingular was the original sponsor. It was strictly a cellular service, but when it got bought out by AT&T there was big controversy because Nextel is the major sponsor of NASCAR. And next year it will be called the Sprint cup.

Yeah they came to an agreement with Sprint and Nascar to leave the series after the 2008 season, so Nascar allowed them to complete the rest of their run with the AT&T logos on display.

Whats wrong with Jeff Burton haveing AT&T as his sponsor nothing. Instead of letting AT&T sponsor Jeff Burton for the rest of the year, why don't they let him keep it for good.

yep, they made a agreement thru 2009..kinda glad they did I was getting tired of the blank orange car, and I'm sure Jeff is happy as well, since he is in the chase..
