It's not a dumb question at all.

IIRC, the indoor range in Metairie does rent handguns.

Call someone who has been to the range you will go to and ask them. Some ranges rent guns. I hope you like shooting enough to get your own guns soon. Having a gun can save your life if someone, or something, attacks you. I carry a Glock 10mm most places I go and pray I don't have to use it, but thank God I have it if I need it.
Never be afraid to ask a "dumb question". Decent people will help you and give you a good honest answer, Jerks will insult you and then you will know who the jerks are so you won't take them serious...

for the 15th time I'm sure, not a dumb question. the ranges I use (the bullseye and the marksman) rent guns, and for slightly more will rent a caliber so you can shoot every gun they have in that caliber. these are indoor ranges so you can't shoot rifles. and you have to use their ammo. the rifle range I use does not rent rifles, but it only charges 5 bucks to use the range.
some ranges will make you take a safety class and get a safety card (for an extra charge) the first time you use it then like annualy or so, but these are fewer. I'd call ahead and be prepared to spend at least 50 bucks on weapon, ammo, targets and ear/eye protection. probably more if you want to shoot a lot.

Some will rent them and make you buy the ammo, some will let you try out guns for free that they are selling, you cna bring your own. Some charge based on how many guns you bring, some charge by the person, some charge for a person and a gun and charge extra for additional guns, some make you buy their ammo(you can't bring your own). It varied greatly by range, ask the range you want to go to by phone so you don't end up with a situation when you arrive.

Depends on the range. The range I go to has indoor (pellet only) and outdoor (pellet and .22 LR max) due to small size and location. They rent out pellet guns, but not .22's. They mainly rent Crosman guns, the 1088 CO2 pistol, the 1377C pneumatic pistol, 1077 CO2 rifle, 2100B pneumatic rifle, 795 Springer rifle and the Daisy 953 Powerline TargetPro (entry level competition rifle) they even upgraded the front and rear sights.
Nothing "amazing" but enough for a first time shooter and many people end up buying something once they start coming regularly.

Depends on the range...Some rent guns out for a price plus cost of ammo the one I go requires you to bring your own. Call around and find out if local ranges to see if they have rentals.

This is not NEARLY as dumb a question as a LARGE percentage of the other ?'s posted all OVER Y!A I have read! ! ! ! !
There are many indoor & outdoor ranges that rent firearms to use at their fascilities, INCLUDING full-auto weapons!
Your best bet is to hit the Yellow Pages and call around to the ranges near where you live.

Not a dumb question at all. But, the only answer I can give you is call ahead to find out. Some have rentals, some don't. Just depends.
