Is her name Holly?
Anyway, it does sound odd. Poodles should look like poodles. However, a Shih Tzu/Poodle mix could look like anything. Most of the genes that make a Shih Tzu a Shih Tzu are recessive, so anything can happen there.
I would recommend that you report them to the humane society or whomever controls breeders in your area. (Possibly a county department.)
Good luck and keep us informed! The more people like you out there watching and stepping forward, we can get some of these people out of the BYB and Puppy milling business!

She sounds like a menace and hopefully she'll get shut down soon. There is no excuse to breed puppies like that--puppies that most likely will just end up getting euthanized due to the fact there are already too many animals wanting homes.

LMAO @ kat! How incredibly perceptive Kat is...
I would be thinking backyard breeder/puppy mill myself. I don't know that you can do much to stop a person like that, as long as they are taking proper care of the animals, the law won't mess with them usually.
What you can do, is spread the word to people you know that you find this person's practices to be less than desirable and possibly fraudulent. Hopefully, they will listen and not support this type of backyard puppy mill.

Bad breeding is bad breeding. There are many variants within a breed. However I've seen dogs that were honestly pure bred but they looked like they were mixed. It's just bad breeding, period. A well bred dog should resemble their breed and if it's bad breeding who knows? They might be mixed but either way it's not a responsible or ethical breeder

Sure sounds like she is a puppy mill. Continue to spread the workd that it is not good to purchase a dog from her. That is really all you can do it the authorities willnot step in. have you checked city ordinances to see if she has violated them?

The people buying from this person are as much to blame as the breeder herself.
If your friends want 100% poodle, they need to go through the national poodle club (or their local poodle club) for referrals to breeders in good standing.
ALL breeders who are not members in good standing with their specific breed club are disreputable breeders.
ALL breeders who intentionally breed mutts are disreputable breeders.
If people would stop buying from pet stores, hollymills (love that one DP) and backyard breeders like the one in your town ... these disreputable breeders will no longer have a reason to breed.

I say trust your gut. As a rule, puppy mills are not humane so contact your local Humane Society or SPCA to have them investigate. You may save a lot of animals from suffering.

sounds like she is. we have one that says they have many breeds and runs i guess 2 pet shops. she is a miller and has other people breed dogs for her. many small breeds. and the new designer mutts....that should never be breed by a ethical breeder....most ethical breeder unless they have LOTS of money do not have many litters at one time. but they can't seem to shut her down...no surprise.
look for a differ purbred breeder or if u want a mutt go to petfinder.

I guess I first would like you to tell me exactly what a cockapoo looks like and how it is different from that 100% Poodle? There is no written standard on the cockapoo so I don't know how anyone knows what they should look like? What should a Shih Tzu-Poodle look like and a Shih Tzu-Bulldog??? I guess I just have never seen the written descriptions so that I would know what they look like.

Wow you are right with your instincts.
she sounds like a puppy mill.
you can report her to your local
ASPCA, and they can go an investigate.
I hate puppy mill breeders. i hate dishonest people that play with people's emotions, and dog's health.
