If you had a family member teaching you in school..(someone you not super close to (like a cousin)?? would you be more shy around them and feel like you have to live up to something more? or would you be more laid back??

i would act the same. when i sit in class, the person teaching me is my teacher..she may be my cousin, but not during class. I would try as hard as i would with anyone else. Just because they are close to me doesn't mean i can be laid back.

I dunno. I'd probably feel a bit laid back b/c they are my family but I'd also do my work and strive to be treated just like anybody else in the classroom so I wouldn't come off as "teacher's pet" and also b/c even if they are family, they are also my teacher and a teacher (blood to you or not) wants you to do your work and be prompt.
It would help in so many ways to have a family member that is your teacher b/c you can easily get tutored by them, call them at home if you need help w/ homework at night, and you would be able to feel good about asking questions and what not b/c you know them. It COULD hurt you though if: the teacher is favoring you more than other students just cuz you are family. If the family member keeps everying on the down low and treats you like any of their own students, then I think it'll be alright.

In school - you're student & teacher.
That's the way to play it.

my bil's wife's son(not his bio child) was my son's math teacher sophamore yr. my son loved it. they are kind of cousins
