From the day we are born , there is a day we are going to die....... its part of life..........enjoy remembering her, and rejoice in the fact that she will be going to a beautiful place.......... even though you will miss her, she will be with you always........... thats how I think of my parents. Hospitals usually have a religious leader on the staff, and they certainly have a chapel. See a teacher, a preacher, a rabbi, a friend who's been there, email www.befrienders.org, but mostly accept that your greatgrandmother has lived a full life and was more fortunate than so many others! There will always be a part of her with you, emotionally and in your own DNA. Make her colorful cards when you visit and sing her songs she would remember. Hold her hand and love her. You can be sure that she loves you!
Maybe you are no where near her right now. Can you wear a heart locket or pendant and touch it now and then to send goodness to her body? Can you draw or paint a rainbow with you at one end of it and she at the other? It doesn't have to be awesome. You could also make a collage with photos of you and her. Hang this up and every time you feel emotional, embrace yourself and smile at the picture.

Death is a part of life, though it hurts to loose a loved one, know they have gone to a better place. My foster daughter went into heart failure and was in a comma for weeks afterward and when she woke up, she looked at me and said with the biggest smile I ever saw from her, "I went to Heaven, it was beautiful, everyone loved each other, there was no cussing, no fighting, no shooting, I didn't want to come back"
I lost her Easter Sunday 2003, and though I miss her, I know she is safe and happy.
I read the others answers and one of them made me think of this, when the day comes that it seems they can not hear you or you think they don't know you're there, be assured they do.

girl its ok the way i deal with the fact my grandmother could die anyday as well is just treat everyday like a happy day and do as much as i can possibly do for her. even know you want too just cry your eyes out dont, be strong for her and make her happy make her last days worth living. me if my grandma is ready too cry out or not having a good day i will make her laugh and try too make her comfortable. this is all you really can do. best of luck iam praying for her as well as mine i know how it feels its very tough.

Try to think of her feelings. She will have no more health problems / problems. She will be at peace. If she has pain--she will have no more pain. You want her to live and suffer???? I am so very sorry--but we all must die.
