I went from an almost skin-close short 'do with spiked hair to hair halfway down my back in 18 months. My secret? I only got it cut one time, to shape it, once it got long enough to reach my shoulders. The only times to get a haircut when you are growing your hair out are to shape it, to cut off damaged hair, or to cut off split ends. I've grown my hair out many times. When I was a junior in high school, I got my hair cut all to one length so I could grow it out with less maintenance. It was shorter than chin length, and I hated it. By the time my senior portrait was taken 10 months later, it was just longer than shoulder length and much more flattering.
If you get your hair cut every six weeks, all you'll be doing is sabotaging your efforts to grow out your hair. You don't need haircuts to grow hair. Doesn't that sound counterproductive? Does it make sense? Not at all.
So, to grow your hair, keep it healthy with good shampoos and conditioners. As long as they are the right kind for your hair (like a shampoo for oily hair if you have oily hair, a shampoo for dry or damaged hair if you've used a lot of heat styling products on it...) I've been using Pantene most recently. They have some great products that help my frizzy hair stay straight. I use their shampoo for dry/color damaged hair and the matching conditioner. I also deep condition my hair once or twice a month (I have oily skin. It's OK to use a deep conditioner each week, it just is too much for my hair) with their damaged hair repair deep conditioner.
I recommend not using curling or straightening tools that use heat to style your hair. It would only make your hair harder to keep healthy.
I wore scarves, alligator hair clips, small barrettes and had a great time playing with it while it was growing out. Maybe you can do something with your hair by using accessories like those.
Just be patient. One of the best things you can do is let it grow until you can get it shaped, like I did. I got mine shaped into a "bob" that was shoulder-length about 8 months ago, and now it's half-way down my back. At this time, I have noticed a couple split ends, so I plan to go get an inch cut off, but it will still be plenty long for me to do up-dos as well as curl it.
I did find one site that spoke about maximizing your hair's growth potential -- ways to eat and ways to style your hair that will help keep it healthier and stronger.
Good luck!

I hate to say it, but there is no way to make hair grow faster. So, just concentrate on making it stronger and healthier, it will seem to grow faster when it looks and feels it's best.
Taking good care of your hair, as well as adopting a healthy lifestyle and diet can help you accomplish this. Keep hair clean and moisturized and do not overmanipulate it. Drink lots of water and eat plenty of fruits and veggies. Some dietary supplements may help. GNC sells Healthy Skin, Hair and Nail vitamins that some people swear by.
The type of products you use depend on the type of hair you have and what look you are trying to achieve. I like Modern Organic Products (MOP), Paul Mitchell and Redken. American Crew is good if you are a guy.
Hope this helps.

There are NO products whatsoever that will make your hair grow any faster...sorry.
To have the fastest growing hair possible, you need to be the healthiest possible. Lots of fruits and veggies, + water. The average person's hair grows approximately 1/2 inch per month. Unfortunately there is no magic potion or chemical that can change that.
In the mean time, I would go back to the stylist and ask him/her to show you some cute ways to wear your hair while it is growing back in. Maybe a color rinse or some hair accessories will help you like your hair more.

Your hair should grow back pretty quickly since you cut a lot off. You could probably go to the store to see if they have any vitamins or creams, but you may not need them within a few weeks. I donated ten inches of my hair and within a week, it had grown an inch (but it took a month for it to grow two inches), so I'm guessing something similar may happen with your hair.

Believe it or not, you cannot hair grow any faster than it normally grows. It's the same way for fingernails. It grows roughly 0.5 inch a month. Unless you have cancerous hair which grows uncontrollably (sometimes you will notice this around moles) thick and fast... plan to expect 0.5 inches a month.

Since hair is made up of hard protein ("Keratin")eating foods that are high in protein will help.
Also something else that will help if you are a female is prenatal vitamin's. I seen hair grow twice as fast with them as without.
I've been a licensed cosmetologist for thirty years.
Hope this helps.

Take vitamins for healthier hair!
(Check GNC- that's where I got mine!
And actually there called "Womens Hair, Skin, and Nail Vitamins" or osmething.)
((I read somewhere kelp pills help your hair grow, too. So you might want to keep that in mind? Maybe?))
Also, daily scalp massages!
ALSO- getting your hair trimmed DOESN'T help it grow. Just prevents split ends, which promots healthier hair.-
Oh and SUN! Sun can promote hair growth alot!
My sister spent 95% of her time outdoors this summer and we dyed our hair on the same day but her hair grew 3xs longer than mine. For real.

Try taking some gelatin capsules or Vitamin E soft-gels. These work for me. Your fingernails will also grow fast.

Stop the use of so many hair products. Limit your use to 1 product and try your hardest to not use hair gel. Also, keep your hair pinned up or in a pony tail. It always works for me!
