There was three golfers. One goes to hit the ball. It goes straight for the water. He raises his arms and makes a motion and the waters divide and the ball rolls across the bottom safely onto the green. The second Golfer hits the ball it goes onto the water and stops. Floating on the water. He goes out walks on the water and putts the balls on the the green. The third golfer , without even aiming hits the ball. It hits a tree. Bounces off onto a lily pad and is swallowed by a frog. Then a Hawk comes by and takes the frog it its claws. As the hawk is flying over the green the frog screams in fright , losing the ball. It makes a hole in one. The first golfer looks at the second and says "I really do hate playing with your father".

I am very religious by the way , and my brother got that joke from a priest. Though I may not have told it right.

There is a difference between telling a funny joke and telling a disrespectful joke. A lot of people use humour to bash people's religion. And then say they don't have a sense of humour.

It's true but on all sides. It doesn't matter what race, religion or creed you are...there will always be a group within the group with no sense of humour...

The story is told of the Atheist who accosted a preacher. "Do you believe in eternal life?" The preacher has no time to reply. "Well its a load of rubbish!" shouted the Atheist. "I believe in science, evolution, survival of the fittest, and when we die, that's it! No eternal life, no great judgement, and no God!" The Atheist continues his assault against the preacher repetitiously and tirelessly. "Eternal life! Eternal life! Ha! "Its all pie in the sky when you die." When I die that's it, the end, no eternal life, no nothing. He continues, until he reaches his climax, "I will be buried six feet under when I die and that's it! Nothing! Caput! When I die I am utterly convinced that that will be the end of me!" "Well thank God for that" replies the preacher!

People who are insecure always react very strongly if you say or do anything that threatens their sense of identity. On top of that, if they don't have a sense of humour then you are really in big trouble.

So what it boils down to is insecure people with no sense of humour. They are bound to get very angry if you mess around with their religion, be it Christian, Jew, or Muslim or whatever.

They forget that God has the biggest sense of humour of us all. I mean, look at what God puts up with - us! : )

If we tell jokes about Jesus or God, firstly it proves we acknowledge they exist, secondly that we know something about them, and thirdly that in making such jokes, we are capable of laughing at ourselves, too!

Many high-brow religionists frown upon this because they have no sense of humour, and have nothing better to do than complain!

They don't accept that I would rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full-frontal lobotomy!

They take everything seriously, because they lost any humour they had when they took up their religion.
Strangely, some religious people (jeh.wit.) have told me that god has a wonderful sense of humour AND is able to laugh at himself, yet his apparent 'followers' don't seem to share his ability.
Another example of their blind hypocrasy.

It depends on the intent behind the humor. Some humor is meant to be light hearted and funny...I think most people can laugh at this. Some is meant to be offensive and only funny to those who are non-belivers and/or anti-religious. When it hurts and offends someone, it ceases to be funny.

I asume God is a good guy who you can sit in the pub with and happily rip the piss out of each other without anyone getting offended.
