Well, when I was not a Christian, I studied several different creation myths. In my literature classes, it was normal for us to compare and contrast the creation stories in Genesis, to creation stories in Native American religions, as well as several others.

What I saw was that every religion perhaps started out as coming from the same God, but that it didn't stay that way. This much is obvious from the lack of adornment in the Genesis account as compared to the others.

Religion has long been mankind's way of explaining the universe, and an attempt to understand something incomprehensible.

I know this isn't a very thorough answer, but it would take forever to type out every theory I have on the subject of religion.

No, it's not the same God in every religion.

The great multiplicity of creation stories is evidence that they're all made up by different people with different cultures and concerns.
