Save your bread as it get old and either grind it up in a food processor or put it in a ziplock bag and rolling pin it into crumbs.

Just use a few slices of bread (depending on how much breadcrumbs you need) that are a couple of days old, just when it's starting to go a little stale and feels firm to the touch. Cut off the crusts and grate with a fine grater or if you have a food processor you can make them using the blade attachment. You need to use quite a few pieces of bread to make a decent amount, enough for coating maybe. Easy and quick to make. Happy cooking!

If you want soft breadcrumbs, just toss some slices in the processor and whiz them up. If you want dried breadcrumbs then you have 2 options. Either use bread slices that has sat out all night, or you can put them in a slow (200-250F) oven for 30 minutes to an hour. Let cool and whiz those in the processor.

Buy a medium loaf of bread, wait untill it goes hard but not moldy. Then beat the living daylights out of it untill you are left with a collection of small bits and peices called breadcrumbs. Collect in a container and seal or freeze untill further use.

Use an uncut loaf, and leave it out of any wrapping for a day, then use the fine side of a grater, and grate the bread. you will have lovely fine breadcrumbs.

Save the bread. Break it into small pieces. Put it in the bottom of an oven at the lowest temperature it will go at and leave there until crispy and then, when cool grind them in a blender. They can be stored in an absolutely dry jar for ages.

To save me typing it all out again, do as everyone above says, but if using as a savoury seasoning, add salt and pepper, even dried herbs, or parmesan cheese. It gives it a great taste. bon apetit
